What mythological
beast would you most fancy for a house pet?Does anyone else remember Al Capp,
L'il Abner and the schmoos? A schmoo is a knee-high critter, built like an Indian club
with a beatific smile. Their wish is to serve. They lay eggs, give milk (in the
bottle) and joyously lay down their lives to provide a dinner that tastes like chicken,
lamb, pork, beef, goat, duck, goose or turkey, depending on how you slice

Unicorn...not
very practical...but first one that comes to mind.

As far as I know this only exists in my
brain. But I'd like a sweet-tempered cocker spaniel that can make me a nice cup of
hot tea and bring it to me in bed. This same fantasy dog would also know how to do laundry
and do it without complaint. All without shedding.

Ohhh... a dragon, most definitely.
I've wanted a dragon for oh-so-long. Runner up:
unicorn.

While not mythical, I think I would
like Opus from the Farland cartoons as a pet. A sort of
low-key penquin with a dry sense of humor. Snoopy would fit that bill as well. Grover from
Sesame Street would be a good natured, "pet" household companion, too.

Interesting question: I suppose the
mythological beast I would most fancy would be Cyclops,
although I don't think he could fit in the backyard. I would definitely be the only
person in the neighborhood with that kind of creture, and I think they look cool.

This one is a toss-up. The child in me says
a unicorn, because of their elegance and how much I have always loved horses. But now I am
more fascinated with the mystical part of mythology so I think I would have to lean
towards a Griffin.

We could sure use a gargoyle, I think they'd
make good watch dogs.

A unicorn...isn't that every little
girl's dream!!

I'd like a Barque cat, one of Anne
McCaffrey's intelligent beasts.

Good question! I like fairies, but I don't
think they'd make very good pets. How bout a miniature friendly white dragon. Do
they have those?

I'm not sure it counts as
mythological, but I want a tove (from Alice's
Adventures in Wonderland).
