Is
Isreal justified in the amount of force it is currently using against the Palestinians?I don't know. I think
they both need a good bitch slap and then some talk over coffee. They really need to get
their shit together -- in a non-violent way.

Neither side is in the right on this issue.
Perhaps Israel wouldnt be the target of so many suicide bombings if they weren't
repeatedly slaughtering palestinian refugee camps full of civilians on the excuse that
they might be harboring terrorists.

I'm surprised to get this question. The
bombings lately have been Palestinian, killing Israelis during Passover. Personally I try
not to think too much about the whole issue.

I don't know enough about this issue to
express an opinion either way.

that is a question that I do not
have nearly enough knowledge to answer.

I think it might be. Immigrant Jew reclaimed
desert that no one else wanted irrigated and made it grow. In '67 they were attacked and
won more land in the resulting 6-day war. Later they returned part of that in an effort to
obtain peace, but it didn't work. I think the Palestinians just want Israel to go away and
won't be happy until it does. That's not going to happen peacefully.

History will decide whether Sharon's policy
of retaliation is justified. From my perspective, I think that violence is begetting more
violence. If both Sharon and Arafat were replaced by moderate men (not women, not yet, in
the Middle East) that a fresh beginning might be possible.

Unilikely. I'm not completely up on it all,
but I do know that the escalation of violence in the last few months makes me very
uncomfortable about the world in general.

There is a long history of excessive force
on both sides of the conflict.

I can't say as I really know. I haven't been
following it too closely.

Both
sides are equally guilty. This is a situation that goes back so many years, I do not even
known how long. The old saying that the path to hell is paved with good intentions applies
here. We cannot legislate people's opiniions of each other and, to be brutally blunt, we
should not get involved. It is far too complicated and involved for itsy bitsy brain to
comprehend.

No, Israel is not justified in the
amount of force it is using against the Palestinians. Neither are Palestians justified in
the amount of force they are using against Israelis. In
this case, though, Israel has MUCH more power and in that sense is slightly more
responsible to use it in non-oppressive ways.
