If you were held hostage by terrorists, would you want your government to meet their demands to secure your release?

I'd like it but I wouldn't get my hopes up for it.

Alias Irrelevante

My heart would of course say yes, but my head say it would be a regrettable action.

Felicia, 38
Lowell, MA USA

No. But I'd want my government to punish the terrorists even if I died with them.

Cathie, 54
Novi, MI USA

Depends on the demands and on how I was being treated, I guess.

Karen, 23
Ames, IA USA

Sure. I'd like to survive.

Janet, 46
E. Brunswick, NJ USA

Of course I'd want it if I were personally affected, but objectively I don't think it is a useful policy.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

Cave into Terrorists? Of course not. In an Ideal World, I'd prefer to choose the belief that I would die for, but if fate decrees I'm to die fighting terrorism, sobeit.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

I'm sure the survival instinct in me would want this, but if the demands were totally unreasonable (ie:deaths of many others) I would probably rather just be the sacrificial lamb...and hope that I wasn't tortured!

Tam

Selfishly, yes, I would. I'd feel even more strongly if it were my family members being held hostage.

Laura, 39
Lowell, MA USA

Absolutely not...we do not negotiate with terrorists...period.
