If your country were to change its National Anthem, what patriotic song would you choose?

"Born in the USA" by Springsteen. That was just be a cool thing to sing at school assemblies, etc. :)

I'd probably pick "American the Beautiful" for a national anthem. The tune is easy for amateurs to sing and the lyrics are not bellicose.

I think sticking with the one we've got is okay.

Many choices would be better than our current unsingable anthem, derived from an experience in the War of 1812. I'd probably prefer "America the Beautiful."

I can't think of any patriotic Welsh songs. I guess Calon Lan would do. A new British National Anthem could be Land Of Hope And Glory.

I think the chances of the US actually changing the National Anthem is slim plus the uproar of the citizens would cause major problems. But I guess if it did happen, it would have to be a song better than our current one (which is slim) but I don't have one at the moment I can think of.

"America" which most people know as "My Country Tis of Thee."

I've always loved the Canadian national anthem. I would love it if the US had an anthem like that.

There would probably be a completely different one written.

America the Beautiful.

"Oh beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain. For purple mountains' majesty above the fruited plains. America, America, God sheds his grace on thee. And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."

"America the Beautiful".

Hmmm... I would not choose a patriotic song. I'm from Germany,  and I don't think that patriotism is too good a thing in general, and especially not for Germans.

I'd choose a song that describes the beauty of the country and is able to inspire people.

god, I cant think of a song, but there are a fair few poems that could be set to music I guess... tbh its not really something I think/care about very much ...

If i had to change it, i would pick America the Beautiful. But i wouldn't want to if i could choose.

Something nice. "Ode to Joy" (words and all) or something. It's not particularly patriotic, but I like it.

I like "America the Beautiful" by Katharine Lee Bates - It's a lovely song that's not too difficult to sing, and it praises the many natural wonders  of our country.

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

This is the first, and most well-known verse.

As an American I would like to see, This land is Your land or America the Beautiful as our National Anthem.

I think I'd probably leave it the way it is. It's seemed to work okay so far. I think I would probably add, "Gentlemen, start your engines." to the end of it though.
