What is your favorite winter holiday tradition?

Well, my favorite tradition is the New Year's Eve party. I always enjoy it much more than Christmas. In my family, Christmas is the time of the year in which you are required to see certain groups of people for the only time that year. On top of that, you have to act like you enjoy this intimate evening with strangers or you will be black balled by the rest of the family until the next Christmas. New Year's Eve, on the other hand, is a time to relax and reflect with the people of your choice. Good friends, good food, good times...very simple, no expectations.

My favorite tradition is not so much a favorite as a necessity. Every year, no matter how difficult, I make a decision to trust and hope.

My favorite tradition would be driving around DFW looking for complete neighborhoods that solid x-mas lights. Even if a few houses are decorated, its still a joy to see the lights.

Say what you will, but I just don't really enjoy "winter holliday". I guess I just like getting stuff for free. Then again, I DO buy gifts for people, so I guess it's not really completely free. Man, what a punk kid.

Visiting my relatives. It's so damn cold and you have to drive on snowy roads, but it's the best. This year as my job refuses to recognise my religious practices, so I'm going to have to quit so I can spend Christmas Day with them.

Christmas. With all the traditional trimmings. It's especially fun while there are Santa Clause believers around.

I'm going to start a new one: kissing my best friend under the mistletoe. But I always liked watching everybody open presents, and every year I would sneak out of my room one night when everybody was sleeping so that I could look at the tree glowing quietly. And I love eating chocolate and then Mom's cooking.

When I was a kid and we had the first big snow storm of the season my dad  would have all eight kids stay home from school so we could make the fudge that's on the back of the Fluff container. That was fun.

My favorite winter tradition is breaking out the "time capsule"...that is, newspapers that are saved from years and years back. Like, my favorite old newspaper is "Steelers Mug Dolphins". It featured a picture of Jack Lambert tackling Larry Csonka...

I like going to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. I like to solemnest of the occasion. When all the lights are turned out in the sanctuary and then a candle is lit to show that Christ is the Light of the World. In turn every person's candle is lit progressively from the person next to them while Silent Night plays. It gives me goose bumps.
