What has been good, and what has been bad, about this year (so far)?

Bad was in the beginning of the year when my boyfriend broke up with me and I had to move two hours away to live with my parents (because he and I were living together), and i was depressed for about 2 months and I wouldn't do anything. the good happened in late April, he and I got back
together again, and even though we live 2 hours apart right now, things couldn't be better :)

What's been good? Making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. Lots of travel, including a great Alaskan cruise. Watching my grandchildren grow. What's been bad? Primarily the gaps in programming contracts. My self-image is too dependent on my career to make me happy when I'm not working.

has been pretty good to me (so far). We got back a healthy tax refund, for the first time we got to see THE ROLLING STONES in concert, and we visited California. The bad things? Well, I've been sick (so what else is new?). But the worse thing was our move from Silver Spring back to Gaithersburg. It cost a LOT more than we had anticipated and two weeks before we moved, I met and became friends with a woman who has since become my good friend. She is my soulmate, I swear.

Some great moments from this year - I was married on March 23rd. The honeymoon was wonderful. We bought a new house. Some bad moments from this year - I was laid-off from work in November and still have not found a job. There have been lots of other "good" things, but nothing big and there have been lots of small "bad" things but nothing worth mentioning.

Good: My daughter was born. I'm graduating college next week. We're moving out of this horrible town. We finally got a good car.

Bad: My husband has lied to me about several things. We're still broke. Our good car got totaled.

The best things were my daughter learned she's expecting and my son married a sweetheart and gave me two granddaughters. The bad was that my uncle died.

Count no man happy until he is dead and avoid evaluating a year while you're still living through it. Carpe diem.

Good: My son finding a puppy in the woods, picking blackberries and making fresh blackberry pie, becoming closer with my family, enjoying long walks through the woods in the summer...and lots of other simple pleasures.

Bad: My well going dry, the new subdivision being build adjacent to my place, needing to get a kidney transplant...and well...the kidney transplant has been the really big bad thing!

Good: Got married to the best guy in the world. Got a bow. Got a house. Got a proofreading job or two. Went to Colorado a few times. Saw Lilo & Stitch a few times. Hung out with my mom some. Got a Christmas tree. Got my old Jeep back. Etc.

Bad: Had endometriosis & jaw trouble. One of my frogs died while I was on a job-hunting trip.

Good was getting to go to college again. Bad was getting rearended and having all of my extra money (plus some) spoken for by the cost of having to get a new (to me) car. Those are the main things I can think of at the moment.

It was been a good work year. My job is interesting and I like what I am doing. My husband and I celebrated 21 year good years of marriage. We are starting to reclaim our lives now that the kids are getting older. We can go out a night and enjoy ourselves again as a couple. What is bad or
difficult is watching my sons grow up. My one son is 16 and driving with a learner's permit. It is hard to give him enough freedom to grow and enough restraint so he doesn't kill himself.

The best thing that happened to me this year is that I found out how to be comfortable with myself and other people, and just generally be a nicer person. The worst things have been things I've found out about the world and how it works - that's a bit ambiguous but I find it difficult to explain
properly.

Good - I got a new job which I really enjoy!

Bad - My nephew passed away at 31 years old from a sudden heart attack.

A ton!! The major thing I guess would be graduation---- going to college and all the new experiences are good. Leaving my friends and family, well, thats not so good!

Things that have been good: My dad hasn't been sick at all this year. I haven't been sick at all this year. I got a new job at the same place where my mom works. I finally decided what I want to do with my life -- become a nurse. I moved into my own apartment. I got my own pet kitten, Quincy.
I now own a total of 9 hamsters. I got to see my cousin Zack and his Mom for 4 days during my
7-day camping vacation to the Smoky Mountains (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg, TN) in May.

Things that have been bad: I got fired from my 2-year position at Bank One. My mom had to have deviated septum (has to do with your nose)surgery. My sister has made too many bad choices in men.

Well, I will divide this answer into the good/bad...if nothing else, it has been an interesting year:
Good: A- Alaska (March) Natch, I was a little nervous on this trip...great time...went to Big Game Alaska...I love that place. Walked across frozen Portage Lage with my brother...you would not believe how long that lake is...there was a few feet of snow on the ground...they had 3 feet of
snow in 24 hours the week before I got there...also, hiked in Denali National Park...which was covered in snow...cool.went to Seward... B- Alaska (September)...that was totally awesome, dude...for sure. Did a ton of hiking...Saw 3 black bears as I was hiking on the Turnagain Arm
Trail...did a lot of hiking in Bear country...totally awesome dude...saw Beluga in Cook Inlet...took a float plane, whick totally reeked of awesomeness....food ruled...if ever in AK...go to wennies...they are the best...Hikied in exit Glacier...stayed in Cantwell for a couple days near Denali...too much too cover here...C. M 75% of the way done with writing my crappy novel... d. Read 25 books this year (soon too be 26)...which means I achieved one New Years resolution this year...e. Am 3 pounds under weight...and I worked very hard to get there...f. Discovered something I like to do, and am good it, which is hiking for sure dude...

Bad:
A. The way a relative passed away. She suffered from Alzheimer's, and cancer...and she recently passed away. It was very, very said seeing the way she was a few months before she died...Alzheimer's is a cruel disease...B. The fact that I am still stucki doing brain dead work...with no hope of every escaping...This was supposed to be a stepping

I have been outraged by the criminal behavior of Bernard Cardinal Law. It's been very hard to remain Catholic this year, and that is bad. The good has been the love and support of my family and friends.

Laura, 37

Good: snorkling in the Carribean, vacationing with friends, visting my sister, sitting by the lake, accomplishing good work professionally

Bad: stupid "war on terrorism", being involved in legal action that shook my faith in the common person, feeling betrayed by a person I enjoyed workign with, having a good friend leave the area

There are two good things about this year. One is that my kids and I took our best vacation ever this year. We went whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking, and took in the West Virginia State Fair. The other good thing is that my youngest daughter is graduating from the University of Michigan on December 15. The bad thing about this year is that I wasted a lot of time and energy on a club I joined.

Cathie, 53

well I met alot of different people this year, I learned alot of lessons I needed to learn. The bad is I lost friends and that the United States in War. Make Love Not War
