What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas is a beloved holiday for many people. I celebrate the winter solstice and the return of the sun.

Christmas the word or Christmas the holiday? Christmas has been a lot of fun for me over the years. When I was living with my parents, I used to sneak out of my room after everybody had gone to bed during the Christmas season. I never did it on Christmas Eve, but on the other nights I'd go into the living room and listen to the calm and quiet while basking in the glow from the lights on the tree. When my brothers & I were kids, we were allowed to get up at 6 and take things out of our stockings. I remember waiting in my room one year until my clock said 6, then getting up. As soon as I was out my door, my brothers called me into their room--their clock hadn't switched to 6 yet. So we sat impatiently in there for a few minutes. I was kind of mad at
them. We'd always open presents together, my kitty roaming around and climbing into boxes and playing with bows and ribbons and paper. These days, though, one of my brothers will be at church in the morning; my other brother is sometimes in Colorado (where he lives now) instead of at my parents' house. So we've been going to my in-laws' house for the morning and my parents' house in the afternoon. I love watching people open the presents I've gotten them, so I'm looking forward to that. This is my first Christmas with my new cat, so it will be fun to
have her running around. It'll be great to see how she reacts to everything. It's been two or three
years since I've gotten to play with a cat at Christmas.

Christmas is the birth of the baby Jesus. It is a time of joy and happiness for all those who know about it. I love decorating and singing during this time of year.
