What is the best thing that ever happened to you?

I don't know. A lot of good stuff has happened to me. All I can tell you for sure is that on Thanksgiving Day I was the happiest I've been in a long, long time--maybe the happiest I've ever been--and I was extremely thankful.

On Febuary 15th 1998 I had an audience of over 200 people laughing their asses off.

The best thing that ever happened to me: Although I did not think so at the time, I would have to say that it was when I was almost kicked out of high school for exceedingly bad grades. That was the  make up call I needed to get my act together and it was, in my opinion, the turning point in my life. It forced me to work harder and be more determined because I knew that I was better than what my   grades indicated, and I wanted to prove to my teachers that they were wrong about me. It sure felt good to prove them wrong.

Being proposed to by my fiancee'. It was the most magical, heartwarming and emotional thing I've ever experienced. We always knew we'd be getting married, but he wanted to wait until I graduated from college before we started planning (he had graduated a couple of years earlier). Last spring, as my graduation got closer, I figured he'd be proposing to me soon, but put it out of  my head to prepare for finals. One night after work, I headed over to his house as I did every Wednesday. When I arrived, I did the usual...sat down and started watching the weekly baseball game like we always did. He came over to where I was and said, "So I have a question to ask you...will you marry me?" I kept watching television as he pulled out a plastic ring you buy at grocery store machines. He'd done it before, and I thought nothing of it and even said "I'm trying to watch the game, quit it!" He then reached in his dresser and pulled out the most beautiful diamond ring I'd ever seen in my life, and said, "Will this one do?" I just about passed out, and I began to cry. I of course said yes, and the rest is history.

My best and most proudest moment (though I only share this in anonymity) is when I broke up with a guy that I had dated for 7 years beginning as a young stupid girl in high school and who had beaten me for about 6 of those years and controlled all aspects of my life. He was a selfish bastard and I finally drew up the courage to decide that my life was more than that and left. It was the most difficult and scariest thing I have ever done. But the feeling of freedom is undescribable. Also, upon doing this for myself, God rewarded me by sending my new boyfriend to help me through the healing process (which is ongoing and probably always will be) and to teach me what love really means. He is an incredible person who I cherish more than anything. Yes, it sounds corny, but its true. It is kind of sad that I feel proud about these events, but, for me, this was a major accomplishment which required much courage.
