What was it like when you have met up with an old love?
This has happened
to me on two occasions. Once it was just very uncomfortable and the other
time it was kinda neat... though maybe a little bittersweet.

I haven't yet.
About 8 years ago one of my sisters sent me the wedding announcement of
the man I didn't marry. It was very disconcerting. I will see my first
love this summer, though, at my high school reunion. I'll be happy to
see him.

I remember feeling
faint, but determined to keep my head up. My high school boyfriend and
I broke up in November and he was at my high school in June to take pictures
at my graduation. I hadn't seen him in all that time and it was like getting
punched. No, like going over a bump on a roller coaster.

Usually a little
weird, but I've usually been friends with my ex's for a while once we'd
been apart for a few months. those friendships never last, tho.

Meeting an old
love depends on how I parted with that old love. I prefer to avoid occasions
of bitterness and memories of betrayal.

Whenever I meet
up with my old love, Pete, we laugh and joke and behave pretty much as
we did when we were an item. (except for the romantic and intimate stuff)
We were best friends as well as girlfriend/boyfriend...and even though
I don't see him all that often, I'd say we're still pretty
good friends. In fact, we've made plans to attend our 20'th high school
reunion together this coming summer! All my other old loves...not that
there are all that many...I just try to avoid.

I had that experience
last summer, when a man I'd dated many years ago came to visit me. We'd
met casually off and on over the years, mostly with our families. I found
that I still enjoyed his quick mind and view of the world, but by the
time his visit ended, I was also vividly reminded of the reasons we had
broken up originally. He remains as a valued friend.

I've moved so often
that I've seldom met up with ANYONE I used to know, including "old
loves."

I've never met
any of my old flames. I only had two serious loves, one in high school
and one in college, before I met my husband. They're far away, if they're
still alive.

I don't really know how to respond to that. It depends on the definition
of love, I guess. I
don't think I have ever accidentally run into a guy who I was formerly
in love with. I have had
calls/emails from them, but I haven't actually run into them. I have seen
guys I previously had crushes on or had short relationships with, and
that hasn't been any big deal. I think I'm on good terms with all of the
guys who meet those qualifications--all of the ones I want to be on good
terms with, anyway. Then there's "old love" in the sense of
guys I have loved, but not necessarily been in love with. That's a little
weirder. For instance, I still have plenty of warm feelings for a guy
I've known since I was 5. But I don't want my husband (or the guy himself)
to get the wrong idea about that, because I don't want any kind of romantic
relationship with him. And I don't even know the guy that well--I've only
seen him about 10 or 20 times since 8th grade. But still, I care about
him.

Just
like I was in high school! I didn't know what to do, so I ran into the
bathroom and called my sister. How old am I? I did finally come out and
acted like the adult I am supposed to be.

It's
kind of weird, all the old feelings surface and I get flustered.
