Ignoring all financial considerations, would you rather spend the next five years in New York City or in a beautiful, quiet, isolated town?"

i love the country side and quietness of it all, so even though i have nothing against NYC, I would choose to live in a small town.

Probably the quiet town--although I hate the small-town mentality I witnessed during my first nine years of school. If it's an OPEN-MINDED small quiet town, that's okay. But I'd also like to have access to as many resources as I'd have in New York.

I would rather spend the next five years in New York City. There is such a wonderful variety there that an isolated town probably can't offer. Including a beautiful park, art galleries, and tall, shiny buldings.

New york city. Hands down. Ive spent too many dull new yearses in "quiet beautiful isolated" towns. Yawn.

You couldn't PAY me to live in New York, or any big city for that matter. I  love the solitude, serenity and beauty of the country. I live in a rural area right now. I would actually love to move someplace even more remote...like Northern Maine...right in the middle of Baxter State Park would be perfect! So...my answer is that I would prefer the quiet, isolated

I like the city but I would rather live in a quiet, beautiful town, sitting in my rocking chair watching the world go by.

Only because the isolation part sounds a little bit dreadful, I think I'd  choose NYC. If I could have the beautiful quiet town that was close to others, then I'd choose it.

Definitely NYC. It would be nice to live in a really pretty, quiet town, but the isolation would get to me in about 3 days.

If the city choice is limited to NYC I'll take the little Vermont town.

City. Definitely.

New York City! Chances are slimmer that I would move there and have the money to afford it, but if it was offered...I would take it in a minute. There is so much to be learned, observed and take part in while in a big city. You can move to a small, isolated town anytime.

I lived in New York City for nearly twenty years, so I think that for the sake of a new experience, I would choose the beautiful, quiet, isolated town. As financial considerations are not an issue, I would reserve the right to make occasional visits to the big city.

In a beautiful, quiet, isolated town, as long as I had cable/satellite, internet access, and a jeep.

I'd opt for the quiet. (with a mall of course!)

I asked this question and I was sure what my answer would be - a quiet little town, of course. But when I stopped to think about it I remembered my visit to NYC. I slept better there, with all the honking of car horns and squealing of tires outside our hotel window, than I have ever slept before. And I LOVED the constant 'stimulation' of that crazy city. Right after Bill and I married, we bought a little house in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. But after 6 months there, I begged Bill to move back to an apartment in town. I couldn't go anywhere - no bus line and I don't drive - and the constant quiet was getting to me. Well, anyway, New York City for me!

Without the concerns of finances, I'd like to spend the next five years in NYC. My reason for this is because I'd still be young enough run about and enjoy all that the city has to offer..and if I were so financially comfortable, I would probably have a getaway home in the country for times when I couldn't stand the noise, the traffic and the crowds anymore.

Actually, I've done both. These days the quiet of a small town attracts more.

You say it is a town so there are people, there is a grocery store, and women. I would love to live in this town. I just hope I could make a difference in this town. I have learned for every good deed done there are 10 bad things. So in a small town we could minimize the bad things and work on our unity.

I live in one of those "quiet, isolated" towns and it's hell... I would definately pick New York City.

Uhm, the city.

If there were no financial considerations, I'd love to spend five years as an affluent New Yorker.

The quiet isolated town. I abhor the city, though I like to visit the city. I like movies and culture.

That's a no-brainer for me. A beautiful isolated town. I wouldn't like to live in a big city.

This one is easy for me. I was born and raised in the country. Small town/rural living has always been a part of my life. New York City is great to visit, but I would never want to live there. It's too big, hectic and wild. I'd much rather live in a peaceful, beautiful, small community than in the Big Apple.

This is damn sure an easy question:  I have said that my dream is to move to Alaska...which is more like a quiet isolated town...so obviously, that is where I would prefer to move...no offense to Gothamites, it is just that crowds are not my bag...it is my life-long dream to move to Alaska...a dream that was dormant until my brother, thinking out loud, said that I should move to Alaska, which caused

definitely nyc! it's such a bustling beautiful cut-throat expensive full culturally-vibrant town. town??? megalopolis!! i love my melbourne (australia) and it's beautiful. but to live in NYC, especially since september 11, would simply fill my heart with experiences i'd take with me for the rest of my life. i plan to be in manhatten some time in the next five years, but money (australia with its bad currency rate) is the issue. i'd love to be there though... i dream.

NYC. I've done the remote rural location and am glad to be out of it.

NYC! ONce you're here, you never want to leave! Sure, sometimes I enjoy quiet suburbs, but only for a few hours. I could never leave this city!

New York. While quiet, isolated towns are wonderful, I need the commotion and hub-bub that a big city provides. I can't be happy just sitting in a little country house waiting for a butterfly to land on my windowsil.

I would probably go with five years in New York City.
