Do
you feel that your name, either first or last, says anything about you?My last name is my
husband's name. It is the name of a bird which is kind of nice since we are both
birdwatchers.

No. Not at all. I think my name is silly and
childish and cheerleader-ish. I wish I had been named something a little more dignified,
such as Kate. In my profession (engineering)...it's hard enough being a woman..but being a
woman with a "cute" name is even worse!
Tam
I think my last name does. I'm half-Korean
and I'm very proud of my Korean last name. The province in Korea that my dad's family
originally came from has historically been one of the most powerful. Plus the fact that I
love being Korean. =P

All it says about me is my name. I've know
several people named Judy, some with similar interests, some not at all like me. Same for
the last name. Therefore, I don't think names mean much.

When I was young, I was dubbed "Carol
the barrel" so I'm not crazy about my first name....I wasn't even really fat, just
chunky. Kids can be so cruel. To family I was always Cari...which just felt better. As to
my last name, I think it's pretty ironic that, with a name like it, I work at an aquarium.
I also love fishing, so I'm more than comfortable with my last name. Cute question, Reba.

My name is an creation of strong family
tradition.

My husband has been known to say "I
have a Karen Hart." What's funny is to put my maiden name and married name together.
Karen Black Hart. I don't know what this says about me as a person, but it amuses me.

My first name says that I come from the kind
of family that latches on to a name and stays with it. I was named for my grandmother and
she for her grandmother.

Not really.

I don't think that it does.

My first name is Christopher and people like
that name. My last name is a common German word. So people automatically assume I am from
Germany and call me Hier (Last name)........ My fathers side of the family where I
received my name is from Denmark. I think I am a regular white man. My family is not
responsible for killing Jews. I know the history of my name and it did originate in
Germany, but this was pre WWII. I heard the Danish were the inventors of the first economy
class sailing ship. I do not feel that my name says things about me because I am an
individual, but other people treat me differently because of my last name.

I think my name helps to define me as a
person, but the name itself doesn't say anything about me. I don't think I've ever read
anything into someone's name and tried to guage their personality by that name.

I've
never been totally happy that I took my husband's surname when we married. As a
compromise, I kept my maiden name as a middle name and he changed his name to include my
maiden name as a middle name. However, because it's such a long name, we only use it as a
middle initial. If I had to do it over, I wouldn't have changed my name when I
married.
I'm grateful to my sister Janet for
convincing my mother to name me "Laura". That
way the initials for all the girls in our family would be "J, K, L, M" in order
of birth. My mother wanted to name me Heidi! And we have a very German last name.

Obviously my last name being Irish has
resulted in lots of early childhood request to dance the Irish jig. However, my first
name, I've always identified with. There are not many Felicia's that I've come
across and I'm please that my parents choose an atypical name for me. Now
"Felicia" means happy and I wouldn't necessarily say that that defines me.

I'm not too sure as to how to answer this
question, but I fdo eel that if I had a different name it would be really weird. I look
like a Sarah Jane and that's that.

I was
named Nicole, in honor of my grandfather Nicola. So, my first name is special to me. My
last name, which I won't reveal on here, belongs to my shitheel of an ex-husband.

My first name, Emily, means industrious, and
my last means wise or white. All are true. I also find Emilies are pretty much all the
same--think of the Pink Floyd song or the Simon and Garfunkle song. We're all the
same.
