In
conversations, do you tend to listen or talk more? When we were growing up, my family
seemed to talk all at the same time and no one listened. We still have that trait when we
get together as a family now but we do listen to all the conversations going on but we
keep an ear out for the important news and will stop to give our opinion. It is amazing
but we have developed a talent for talking and listening at the same time.

That depends. I think I tend to listen more,
though.
Jeremy, 14
Highlands Ranch, CO USA
If I had to pick one it would be listen
more.
Laney
TX USA
It depends on who I'm with, I guess. The
more comfortable I feel with a person, the more talkative I am.
Tam
I hate being the centre of attention
and therefore would much rather listen to someone
speaking than actually being the one that people are listening too. So I would be the
listener.

Nine times out of ten, I listen more,
especially if we're including random conversations with whoever -- small talk, shooting
the shit, et cetera. If I've got something to say, I'll talk. The larger a group, the more
superficial the conversation tends to be, which means I'm less likely to have anything to
say -- so the folks who know me mostly from large groups think of me as quiet, and the
folks who know me one-on-one or from small groups think I never shut up.
Bill, 27
New Orleans, LA USA
Listen.
Firelady, 24
Frisco, TX
USA
I'm more of a listener but I will speak my
mind when appropriate or when the conversation lags.
Doug2, 29
Overland Park, KS USA
I tend to listen more than talk.
Kyle, 16
OH USA
I try to make it fifty/fifty, but it depends
on the person with whom I am conversing. If it is my grandson, he does ninety percent of
the talking.
Jane, 62
West Linn, OR
USA
Both. But I do have a tendancy to interrupt.

talk--I'm a terrible listener. And I love
talking about myself. :)
Cancer, 20
NYC, NY
USA
It depends on the person, and what we happen
to be talking about.
Nicci, 27
Las Vegas, NV
USA
These days I'm usually more of a
listener than a talker.
Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA
It depends on who I am talking to and what
we're talking about. I'm both though, a good listener and a good talker!
Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA
I listen more, but I have a problem when I
have a fellow listener to talk to. Usually people who listen want to have control of the
conversation. So when we talk they think I am trying to take control of the conversation.
Then they get imediately defensive. I just wish to have a good conversation.
Christopher, 28
San Mateo, CA
USA
Neither. I usually let the other person talk
while my mind either starts focusing on whether or not I'm paying attention or searches
for their name.
Alias Irrelevante
Listen, i guess.
Talia, 25
Stamford, CT
USA
I have always been a talkative
person with people I know.
Reba, 50+

both
Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH
USA
I'm a listener.
Judy, 62
Easton, KS

Depends on the situation. A work and in
professional settings talk. In social settings listen. In personal situations,
equal.
Felicia, 36
Lowell, MA
USA
Depends. When I'm with my friend Staci, I
tend to talk more. I'd like to think that with my husband it goes both ways (actually, I'd
like to think it goes both ways with a lot of my friends), and when I'm in a group of
people I tend to not talk at all because I'm afraid of interrupting. There are many
nuances in the world that can affect how much I talk.
Karen, 22
Ames, IA
USA
It really depends on the situation. I think
of myself as a good listener... but do like to offer input as well. Otherwise, it wouldn't
really be a conversation, right?
Fisch, 47
Preston, CT
USA
I probably talk more than I listen.
Laura, 37
Lowell, MA
USA
I have
this thing my friend Jonny calls the "Rule of 5". I'm totally talkative in small
groups. You get 5 people together and ZIP. I'm quite. I never speak. It's really weird. I
don't know why I do it. I just don't feel the need to talk, I would rather just listen.
Triana, 29
Austin, TX
USA
I definitely try to listen more than talk,
but not sure I always succeed. Once heard, God gave you two ears and one mouth, use them
in that proportion.
Kevin, 35
Sugar Hill, GA USA
Depends who I'm taking to and what we're
talking about. If someone just wants an ear that will listen, I'm more than glad to
provide it. If someone comes seeking advice, then I talk.
Hikaru, 19
PA USA
I am a yapper! Unfortunately so is everyone
else in my family, so we all talk at once!
Janet, 44
E. Brunswick, NJ USA
I usually do more talking.
Ryan, 29
Morton, IL
USA
My entire family was born talking. We can't
shut up. And we all married quiet people. It's scary when we're all together.
