When was the last time you felt unappreciated at work...why?
Not for a while.
Probably when I was working at Blockbuster, busting my ass, being discriminated
against for being female.

It was nine years
and three jobs ago. The company I worked for stressed customer service
and didn't care what happened to the employees as long as the customer
was served. I could bust my tail to finish a program and all they would
do is give me another program and shorten their estimate of when I could
be done.

Last fall, I was
on a project with very severe budget constraints, and some of the users
kept arguing over trivia and not letting me finish implementing the important
features.

All the time here
lately. Our jobs are going to India, and we get to see their work. It's
hard to believe that it's all about money to the point that they'd take
their shoddy work over our quality just because they're cheaper. *sizzle*
I've been here for 2.5 years working my ass off and it just doesn't matter.

I'm not particularly
important, so I mean, there's no real reason for me to feel appreciated,
i guess

Currently- My supervisor
is not trained to be one and verbal beats us down when available. There
is nothing we can do around here because her boss doesn't believe us.
but not all days are bad, sometimes she acts like our bestfriend. Psycho!

I have felt unappreciated
at work nearly every day for the past four years. I have to perform various
tasks each day and at one time I had several different things to do. Things
that carried some responsibility. Then new people were hired and one by
one my responsibilities were given to the new people. And all that was
left for me to do was to type some abstracts and work in the damnable
file room that Frodo used to hate so. I wanted to quit so bad but I just
couldn't afford it. Look for another job? I'm 58 and hope to retire in
a few years. A very knowledgeable co-worker retired Friday and before
she left she showed me how to perform some of her tasks. Now I have some
responsibility again and a reason to come into work each morning. Besides
earning money
that is. A good feeling...

I don't think I've
ever worked for someone who didn't appreciate my work. The people that
I work with now are especially good at dispensing praise to others for
a job well done.

It has been some
time since I've had a supervisor who actually provided me with praise
or compliments for a job well done. I have found it in peers, other colleagues,
and those whom I serve. Luckily I have a strong sense of my worth and
am quite willing to appreciate my own accomplishments and know how fantastic
they are.

A couple months
ago the boss talked to me and told me he didn't think I was going to work
out, that he thought my productivity was dropping, yadda yadda yadda...
I tried to explain to him that he simply didn't give me enough to do and
that when I tried to get more to do, I always had to wait for them to
get through meetings and "brush fires". I was very very pissed,
but I got through it and he seems to have gotten over it.

I haven't feel
that way in two weeks. Ever since the day I finally quit running that
dump alone for miimum wage. Being unemployed suits me just fine for a
while.

I don't think I've
ever felt unappreciated at my current job. In the past I know I have but
I can't recall why right now.

Last week, when
my boss asked me to do a favor for someone in the company. I do graphic
arts and you usually get tapped to create kid's school projects, posters,
flyers, scan photos for people. I don't mind doing things for people I
know in our department but this project involved scanning
100 photos of somebody's parents and putting them into a PPT presentation
for an anniversary.

I don't know if
"unappreciated" is the word, but I've felt "disrespected"
when certain coworkers would barge into my office without knocking. Unappreciated...hmmm...maybe
the last time I felt that way was when I completed some particularly grueling
fieldwork and was not told "good job" or any words of praise.
I don't know. I usually don't dwell on stuff like that, I guess.

At
my last job, as a secretary on the Med/Surg/Tele unit at the hospital,
I felt unappreciated all the time because no matter what I did, I was
always getting yelled at by the nurses.
