What
is relevant for a personal web site and what is right out?I'm not sure I really
understand the last half of the question. What is relevant for a personal website, though,
obviously depends on the person. Thus the term PERSONal.

Say what? What?! I said Say what?
What? I said say what (sorry, I must be channeling Stone Cold...what?! I said I must be
channeling Stone Cold)

I read a quote a while back that said
something like "Anyone with enough free time to keep a website current doesn't have
enough of a life to justify having one." With that tangent out of the way I think
personal websites are mainly done for the amusement of the builder and shouldn't be taken
too seriously.

I think anything you wish to put on your
personal website that has to do with yourself, things you are interested in, etc. is
perfectly fine and relevant. I'm not sure there's really any limitation to that.

A personal web site should include a photo
of the person and interesting information and/or links. I don't think there is necessarily
anything right or wrong about having a personal web site. If it is useful, people will
visit it. If it's not, it'll be ignored.

My suggestions, ultimately it has to
be a piece of who you are. Make it fit your
personality. Use several pages, don't put everything on the front. Remember it is a
representation of who you are, so take some time with it. Make it look good. Ask your
friends and family what they would like to see on a site about yourself, and go with that.
They might be your only visitors. Don't just have a personal site just to try to make
money. It won't work, and will end up looking tacky. Just a few ideas from a guy who has
his own site, and thinks it might be alright.

Amateur porn. Why else would you put up a
website? I mean, er.. um.. websites should only contain essays on the relevance of the
writings of Thoreau.

Can't really say I have an opinion... it's
their personal website. There I things I would and would not put on my own website (if I
had one), but who am I to say what others should put on theirs?

I always sorta feel weird about presonal
websites. I think those things should be devoted to something you care about -- not your
self. "Hi, My name is ______ and I have a website."

I have no idea what this question means.
Sorry.

I'm not sure I fully understand the
question as it is posed, but I think a personal website is just that. A personal issue.
Whatever a person wants to or feels the need to
include, other than obvious pornographic materials which could offend some, is acceptable.

I am a computer novice. I assume that when
computer websites are judged as personal expressions, much of the beauty is in the eye of
the beholder.

I'm thinking you should have probably
separate sites for personal and professional sides of you. For a personal site, probably a
photo album, web newletter about current activities, links to favorite sites (including
friends, relatives). For a professional site, a resume, portfolio of work (if that is what
you do), and any other tidbits that represent your work activities.

This is a matter for personal taste.
Basically, I think the web site should contain whatever you want to share with friends and
family.
