Have you or a loved one ever had a heart attack? If so, what changes have
you made to your lifestyle?
No heart attacks.
My mom takes medication and both parents have had stress tests, but no
attacks. My husband's mom had open heart surgery, but that was before
I knew him. We try to be conscious of the food we eat, and now that the
snow has stopped falling, hopefully we'll get back out on the road walking
again. I walk a mile everyday at work in the empty warehouse next door.

I have had a heart
attack. Through an angiogram they found that my arteries were clean as
a whistle, and they blamed it mostly on genetics. My entire family history
shows mid-life heart attacks. My dad has had three and survived them all...
my nephew had a massive heart attack this past July and passed away suddenly
~ he was 31 years old ~ it devastated the entire family.

Knock on wood,
no one in my family ever had a heart attack. Lots of strokes though. I
don't want to be in that number so I try to avoid stress, eat not-so-fatty
foods, and exercise daily. Sometimes I
even succeed.

My father-in-law
died of a heart attack. That was before bypass was available. My grandfather
also died of one, but I was very young then. Other than that, only friends
and acquaintances. I watch my cholesterol and exercise a minimum amount
(I hate it!), but can't say I've changed my lifestyle drastically.

Yes, my father
died of a heart attack on february 1st this year. It's been a hard adjustment,
especially for my mom, but we're surviving.

My grandpa had
a heart attack, and he died. Changes in my lifestyle have been more related
to not having my grandpa around than to changing what I eat or whatever.
I am hoping to start swimming after the local university's spring break,
though. (I haven't started the great stuff I'm going to do yet because
I've been busy with proofreading, and the pool is closed next week for
spring break.)

My husband had
a heart attack and died. I am now more aware of death's effects on the
family that remains. My company emails all of us about funerals in employees'
families. Now I send a condolence card even when I don't know the employee.
I pray a heck of a lot more (almost said hell, but I'm trying to clean
up my act!) I lost 30 pounds and I'm trying to exercise more. My will
is up to date and I try to keep good financial records so my kids will
know where the money is when I die. I spend money without consulting with
anyone, I work late without calling home, and I stay up too late surfing
the web.

My granddad died
from a heart attack when I was 11. I haven't made any changes to my lifestyle
because of it, but my parents cut down on their red meat intake after
his death.

My father had a
mild heart attack about 15 years ago. He's always been an active man,
however he became even more active after the heart problem. He runs every
day, goes to the gym...and looks pretty darn good for a 56 year old man!

Fortunately, no
heart attacks. My ex-husband had some heart problems a number of years
ago and we cut back on cholesterol-laden foods.

My dad had heart
surgery in his mid-50s. He battled high blood pressure, diabetes, and
heart problems until he died a year and a half ago. Other than that, folks
in my family have extremely good health.

My father had a
'baby' heart attack and had to have bipass surgery on his heart. I quit
smoking for 6 months because it was related to him smoking, but unfortunately
I started up again.

My mother did.
It completely changed my life because it was a fatal heart attack.

No. Thank God.

My husband has
had several heart attacks and a bypass operation. I've always cooked Heart
Healthy, but he's been partial to high-cholesterol snacking. He's cut
back on the snacking and now
swims for an hour twice a week. This is two hours a week more than he's
exercised before.
