It probably wouldn't have been my first choice, but I do think one of them deserved that Oscar. ROTK's sweep was a good way of honouring the trilogy as a whole.

I see very few movies and avoid seeing movies made from books that I've loved. I was pleased at the Oscar results because they are another indication that fantasy is becoming an acceptable mode of literary/cinematic expression.

I can't remember which one it was. I've seen the first one, and got very confused and didn't know who anyone was the first time I watched it. I didn't understand it till the second time round. I haven't got around to watching the second one yet. I'm not a Tolkein fan, so I'm not compelled to go catch them as soon as they come out.
