What would make a work environment ideal for you?

There was a neo-classical ideal called "retirement" which involved leaving the city to work, by yourself, in commune with nature. As a writer, this is my wet dream. I am not meant for classrooms, offices, or cubicles.  A ranch, a shot gun, and a computer (avec speedy internet access).   Lake-side, mountain-side, or space, I want to be out of earshot from humanity.

Ideal work environment has lots of natural light, calm people, a comfy chair, challenging work, groups of people working together, autonomy, serving the greater good.

As a full time housewife my work environment is also my home. I could  joyfully live without other people's clutter; pens and papers that wander away from the telephone; and emergencies on short notice. Life would be pleasanter with predictable weather; dogs with cast iron digestive systems and triple the bookcase space that I have now--with an option to increase such space as necessary.

Lots of sun, someone to screen my calls, go to the post office for me and one or two congenial office mates.

Friendly coworkers and a sharing environment. I don't mind working hard, but I hate working with people that don't care about me.

No desks, enjoyment for what I'm doing. . .

Working from home, at a job I love, over the internet.

A workload that actually goes somewhere, confident coworkers who enjoy what they're doing, and if there needs to be a supervisor they should have all corporate cliches forcefully removed from their vocabularies and it wouldn't  hurt if they actually became 'part of the team.'

In all honesty, it would have to be fun, but the people would be focused on their work. I would want to enjoy my work, and would like to be around people that enjoyed theirs. It would be full of challenges, but not full of stress. My superiors would make it very clear what my obligations were, be there to help me out, but not be breathing over my shoulder to check up on me or be too strict with my assignments. I wouldn't mind them having high expectations, as long as I received the necessary resources to meet those expectations, including triaining and support. Also, I would  want to be involved in something artistic, and something I can feel good about doing. I wouldn't like to work for a software company that made business specific applications programs, for example, it would just be too boring. I would also like be some kind of instructor. I've been doing it for over a year now, and I've grown to like it. (Hint hint, Felicia. )

What would make a work environment ideal for you?
Order, lighting, cleanliness, temperature, supplies, balance, control,
respect, commitment, understanding, knowledge, safety, opportunity, support, and trust. I like to feel connected with the place & people I work with, where all ideas are respected, and every one feels vital, important and indispensable. Also, if something goes wrong everyone will help and not watch one person take the burden or blame in a difficult moment. Objectives are as important as people.  Since I work with many people and data -- a fast computer would  make a world  of difference to me. Also I have no sound card on my computer and I miss  that.

The worst job is where you feel the people you work with talk behind your back or when sly comments occur everyday, innocent or not. Dishonesty disturbs me on every level. Who would want to wake up and work for that everyday? It's true personalities will clash sometimes but a sincere smile can change that quickly. Never bother people before lunch, people are edgy when they don't eat or sleep well. I like to pay attention to different personalities and keep a sense of who I work with. Noise and idle distractions are terrible. Isolation is a bad thing.   Complainers are really bad. Being left out of information is bad too. I also   like to keep in mind other peoples agenda and let them alone to do  it. I always feel guilty with small talk but I know it's important to be social and  get to know people.

Stress is the absolute worst thing about any job, the best work environment  gets things done and avoids stress at the same time!

Me, alone, surrounded by things that make my creative juices flow. Or, if I had to work with people...friendly and helpful, easy to talk to and confere with. Hopefully creative individuals as well, I can't stand bland people :)

Part of me says being able to act and speak and dress as I like. The other part says not to be surrounded by people acting speaking and dressing as they like. It would have a lot to do with the job itself actually. I'd have to enjoy my work and get along with the people I worked with. It would be nice to have a come and go as you please as long as you get your work done
