Have you ever rendered first aid in an emergency situation?

To non-humans, probably. And I drove Allison to the ER once. Actually, this is a sore spot with me right now. Today I saw this hurt robin flapping around on the road and when I went back to save him his little feet were in the air.

No, I haven't and hope that if I'm ever confronted with that situation that I'll handle it well.

After raising sons and stepsons, I've treated any number of cuts and gashes. I've dealt with dangerously omnivorous toddlers ingesting aspirin and yew berries. I've strapped a broken arm, a broken collar bone and offered a soft shoulder for broken hearts.

No I can't really say that there has ever been anything too serious, though  I am trained in first aid/cpr and work well under severe pressure.

Never rendered first aid. But while I was an RA in college, I was responding to a fire drill and ran into a huge wall of smoke on my way to the fire call box. We had a fire in my building and I was  required to go back upstairs and make sure there was noone left on my floor while a room below was burning. Pretty tense, but I managed well. Oh, and a month ago there was a fire in the apartment below us while we were having a party. Proud to say that I called 911 and was calm and clear.

No.  But I do it for fun sometimes.

I have never rendered nor required first-aid.

No, I've never been in a position where I would have to do that. Although, if something happened, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to help the person in trouble. My mom is a nurse, I have to follow in her footsteps, right?  Well...sorta.

Yes, in a NYC subway station. My husband and I watched a man thrown on the tracks. Bob and another man got him up, we used my swim towels to staunch his bleeding, and then when the emergency services were slow to respond, walked the victim to a nearby hospital and remained with him until he was treated.

Nope, can't say that I have, although I did give up my shirt when my brother got hit with a rock in the head... does that count? *grin*

No. But I called an ambulance when my Papa had a heart attack at Angelo's   Supermarket in 1979.

Yes, twice. The first time was on my son who was an infant at the time. Both times I was very calm and handled the situation correctly. Afterwards, I cried like a baby for several minutes. It is my prayer I'm never required to go through this again.

No I have not.... I probably could, even though I have no formal training. But then again, I must just panic!!

Katie, 24

Nope. The only real emergencies I was ever in were car accidents, and the only serious ones were when I was a kid.

Amy, 23

No, never needed it either.
