What's
your least favourite type of music and why?Head banger, heavy, screechy metal.
Laura, 36

I'm not fond of any music where the words
are difficult to understand. I have no problem with instrumental music, but I like to know
what I'm listening to.

Bland pop and mainstream rock. Bombastic
sentimentality and factory-brand cheer. Because - it's boring - sad, ultimately.

Any music that lacks passion and seems to be
produced without human soul or inspiration.

Ooh, tough call. I'm tempted to say
Simon & Garfunkel. That kind of mellow creepy
music really disturbs me. "Sound of Silence" makes me shudder.

I've been hosting an open mic night for a
while so I'm getting really, really tired of folk.
Alias Irrelevante
Teeny bopper pop. It wouldn't bother me so
bad if it didn't seem to encourage young girls to be shallow tramps (Oops--I did it
again!!) and males to be "sensitive" AKA effiminate (see ALL boy bands).

i really hate all of that heavy metal music.
it's not music, just a bunch of ugly bruts yelling and banging things.

Probably dance/trance/house
(whatever it's called) music. It's got no emotion, it's
just a repetitive strain of beats. It's barely even music. I'm sure I'll get some strange
looks for that one considering my taste in music... There's also a sub-genre of music used
in England to classify bands like Papa Roach and Limp Bizkit called nu-metal and I find
that particularly offensive because it's completely fake and, whilst this in no way
applies to all their fans, everyone I've met who likes that strain of music has a

I really don't like rap. I especially hate
it when they use the n-word, and words to subordinate women and queer people.

Rap. Most songs have no melody to speak for,
they rip off other more talented people's work, and it's many have nothing but hate-filled
lyrics.

Country, rap, and some classical music that
just puts you to sleep!
Dianne, 16

I don't care even one little bit for
heavy metal music. I like to sing along with music or
at least hum along with a smile on my face. From what I've heard, most heavy metal sounds
to me like rhythmic hollaring. When/if I can understand the lyrics, they more than likely
make me sick.

I actually don't mind most music. I can
handle pop, rock, rap, country, etc. - obviously I prefer some over others, but I can sit
through most of it. What I really don't like is Christian music - either hymns or rock -
because I'm just not a fan of the religious message.

Country music makes my hair stand on end. I
can't fully explain it. Some of the newer, lighter country stuff is bearable. I just
detest the twangy crap. I feel like I should be at a country fair wearing a red and white
plaid dress with my hair in pigtails and nibbling on a piece of straw. Because I'm such an
avid music lover (just about every other genre), people are just amazed by my take on
this. I am too, sometimes.

I am so tired of all this pop crap. It's
time for these pre-fabricated "boy bands" and these so-called pop princesses to
say good-bye. You've had your fifteen minutes of fame...and then some. I can't wait for
the real music to come back. Some good rock. And I don't mean the music that's out now.
This "rap-rock" that's all the rage. I mean good old-fashioned rock music.

Lite jazz, like Kenny G type of
stuff. It's just so lame and pathetic.

country music, it's just boring

heavy metal...don't really think it's music
or singing
Tracy, 24

Boy Band/teenybopper crapola. Because the
lyrics are moronic and the bands/singers are fake, plastic, untalented image-oriented
gimps.

that weird new age stuff with sitars and all
that. it's just..annoying.
Angela, 16

My least favorite would have to be
the heavy metal/rap clone that the radio has been overrun by. It's cheezy and it is
annoying and there is no excuse for it. Die Limp
Bizkit!! Die Korn!! Die clones of the clones! Blech.
Maggie, 20

I've never liked mainstream pop. I just
don't think it's very interesting.
Johanna, 18

Heavy metal -- it hurts my ears.

Oooh I don't think that I can answer that I
love loads of different kinds of music, can I just say guitar music and let that cover a
whole specrtum...well its said

I hate todays rock and roll especially hard
rock. I can't understand anything they say and the ones I can understand are nothing but
filth and sex and drugs. I like a good song that you can understand the words and it may
be a song of love or life.

My least
favorite type of music would hafta be country music. It's just so depressing and corney.
Stephanie, 25

...least
fav music. hmmm...I'd have to say RAP. I used to enjoy it, and like listening to it, but
now it is so offensive. I can still listen to it sometimes, but most of the time, I'd
rather not get offended and told to BACK MY ASS up and SHAKE MY ASS while listening to
music
