Do
you ever send or receive personal email while on the job (if you have Internet access at
work)? Yes, occasionally, just as I occasionally make a personal phone call. In
both cases, out of discretion and in deference to office policies, I try to confine them
to brief exchanges, usually about such things as plans for the evening. Once or twice I
have been at a site where more tolerance was exercised, and I've done more
"correspondence" on the net.

West Linn, OR

Yes.
Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA
I receive so little email that I
hate to miss it, so I got a Yahoo! email address so I
could read it at work.
Reba, 50+
Silver Spring, MD USA
I rarely send personal email from my work
email account. I send work related email from my work email account and personal email
from my personal email account. Because my work place and hours and rather fluid, I send
personal and work email from both my home office & computer and my work office &
computer.

Men may work from sun to sun, but women's
work is never done. Yes, I send and receive e mails in the course of my 24 hours days.
Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA
Yes, but I don't use my work address. If I
go to Yahoo or Hotmail, I feel a little better about sending it. I don't like
thinking someone else is reading my email.
Nicci, 27
Las Vegas, NV
USA
I am doing it right now.

If school counts as work, then ALL
THE TIME!
Eric, 20
Beverly Hills, CA USA
All the time! From my hotmail account not my
work account, Naturally.
Talia, 24
Wilton, CT
USA
Yes. Very sparingly though. I can usually
only check during lunch.
Keri-Jade, 21
Brampton, Ontario CANADA
I try to keep work and home activities
separate. On occasion the boudaries between the two slip, but not often.
Felicia, 36
Lowell, MA
USA
Not applicable. I write at home.
Judy, 62
Easton, KS
USA
I don't work anymore (I'm a
full-time student), but when I did, I sent and received personal email all the time. I
didn't see it as being any different than receiving a
phone call from my husband.
Sapphire, 31
Ft. Lauderdale, FL USA
i don't have email, but i make mad personal
calls on my company cell phone. gotta keep in touch, y'know?
A-Dog, 19
McMinnville, OR USA
That's what I'm doing right now.
Firelady, 24
Dallas, TX
USA
I used to when I had a desk job. I'd
read/write email, surf the web, talk on AIM. I was not a very good worker bee.
Maggie, 22
Sandwich, IL
USA
You bet I do, all the time. I receive a
bunch of personal e-mail during the day (some of it is actually real mail as opposed to
lists or spam), and I send probably about five messages per day.
etoile, 21
Washington, DC USA
No. Work has a strict internet policy. They
don't want their system used for personal stuff. So I avoid using their email.
Janet, 44
E. Brunswick, NJ USA
It is frowned upon, but I still do it in a
limited manner.
Doug2, 29
Overland Park, KS USA
I have checked my email while at work. But
where I work its ok.
Christina
MI USA
Since I am at work, I probably should not
answer that question, lest somebody at work have a cow.
Frodo
parts unknown, age unknown
yes, including the one to repsond to this
question.
Ryan, 28
Riedlingen GERMANY
I used to do personal email at work
sometimes, but not while I was on the clock.
Karen, 22
Ames, IA
USA
I did at my former job but am still too new
at this one to take a risk! I don't really have problem with personal emailing at
work as long as it's brief family contact and my work is caught up. Email seems quicker
and less disruptive than a phone call during the workday.
Fisch, 46
Preston, CT
USA
Yes.
Almost every day. I feel lucky that my husband is the manager where we work, so when there
is nothing to do, he let's me play on his laptop to pass the time.
