Would you kill someone who had your family hostage?

Am I picking up a theme here, Christine? There is no way to predict what I would do in a dire situation. I cannot imagine that I could kill anyone. Nor can I imagine that anyone would take any member of my family hostage. And I fervently hope never to be in a situation like that. I know I am evading the question, but I don't really want to think about it. Too creepy.

I would probably want to kill someone who had my family hostage, but I know I would let professionals handle a situation like that ~ I trust they would know of the best solution and they would have the means to handle it correctly. This question seems just slightly off the wall; I mean,
who's going to say "gee no, I would just let them keep them hostage forever or let them just walk away unscathed after putting everyone I love through torture and hell."

I'd try to avoid it, but I suppose I would if I had to.

If I was sure it would free them and not get them killed. Or if I knew they'd for sure be killed, if I didn't, I'd take the risk.

I would do everything in my power to ensure the safety of my family...if that meant killing whomever was holding them, then so be it. I would never want to kill anyone, but under the right circumstances and out of necessity for my survival or the survival of my family, I would kill another human being.

My first thought was Yes - but I don't know if I could kill anyone, no matter what they'd done to me. If it ever happens (God forbid), we'll see.

Not unless there was no other way to resolve the situation.

No. I'd let the police handle it. They have the expertise to negotiate with the hostage takers and
determine if killing them is necessary. They have the tools, the skills, and the legal authority to do it. I don't.

Yes, in a second!

Tam

i highly highly doubt it.

I don't know.

I don't know.

Yes. I believe in the commandment that says "Thou shalt not kill" but I also believe that God is a
loving God who takes the situation into account. If not, there's a lot of soldiers who are murderers.

It's a possibility, but you never know until you're in that particular situation.

If that's what it took.

Janet, 45

I can't see myself completing such an act. In all likelihood such an action would probably lead to the death of all involved, including the family

Felicia, 37

No, but I would try to negotiate with them to find out what they want. This would be the best way to make sure my family wouldn't get hurt.

Melodi, 19

No, I don't think I would.

It depends on if they meant to kill them. I think killing is an aweful harsh punishment if this individual has no intention of killing. I would wound them severely to render them powerless.

If that was the only way.
