What do you see when you look out your front door?

A house on the opposite side of the road, a junction at the end of the street, and a school opposite that.

On my stoop is a wooden bunny rabbit from Easter and 2 boxes of pansies. I have a lawn and a row of evergreens. My road is cement and across the street is the General Store.

I see woods. I have been blessed to be in a subdivision's last street and on the corner. One neighbor and surrounded in woods, for twelve years. But that is over because next door a house is fixing to be built. No more privacy and quiet.

Shrubbery.

A maple tree, green grass, gravel road, our neighbor's house across the way. Peace and quiet.

Trees, bushes, part of the house, the street, a field, some apartments, an office building, etc.

Cool question. I see the two steps in front of the house leading down a walkway to the left toward the driveway and garage. We have a pretty good size lawn in front, between the walkway and the road. I live on a fairly private road with very little traffic. Beyond the road there is a hill covered in trees and brush. The view of this large hill changes greatly throughout the seasons, and in springtime it comes alive with squirrels, birds and the occasional neighborhood cats.

Other houses and nicely manicured lawns. I live in a residential subdivision. :)

I see the neighbor's house across the street... ok, I see a street first and then the neighbor's house... well, technically, there is my front porch, sidewalk, yard (grass and dandelions - probably more dandelions than grass), sidewalk, curb, street, curb, mailbox, sidewalk, neighbor's yard (no dandelions - damn him), sidewalk, porch, neighbor's house. Yep, that's about it.

A large playground with three tennis courts, three basketball courts, two baseball diamonds (no fences), a swimming pool and a playground. I never use any of it.

I see the top story of the townhouses down the hill from me, and beyond that I see trees and houses across the Willamette River. I'm not quite high enough to see the river itself.

I see my motorcycle and a bunch of parking lots for cheap appartments. Oh, and some shirtless dude.

a parking lot and a storage unit

I see a Japanese maple, inch-high hosta shoots, red and yellow tulips, lots of grass, dying dandelions (shot 'em with Weed-B-Gon a couple of days ago), my street, a garbage can (today's trash pick-up day), and the neighbor's house across the street.

Cathie, 53

The blue house directly across the street, the white house diagonally across the street, a utility pole and my front yard.

Laura, 38

I see the apartment across the hall.

The wall on the other side of the corridor :P To be more discriptive: a white plaster wall, dirty green carpeting.

Talia, 25

Directly outside my door is the door to another apartment. Outside the door of my building, is a cobblestone street and the parking lot for a bank.

I see my freshly mowed lawn (just got a new lawn tractor last week!!!!)...3 gigantic pine trees, one leaning dangerously close to my house, a hedge row of forsythia and lilac (out of control)...two hanging baskets...a bed of lupines...and across the road -- the never ending field of brambles!

Tam

Cool question. Directly in front of the door is my front yard which has a large oak tree and a lawn that has a few burn spots from my dogs. I also see West Court Street and an empty lot directly across the street. Right now the lilac bushes are blooming on that lot and they smell wonderful, especially at night. Often I see the lady from the house below the lot, traveling across the lot to visit her mother who lives in the house on the other side of the lot. The mother, Miss Lizzie, will turn 100 next year. Often there are cars parked on the street in front of Miss Lizzie's house. She has quite a few children and grandchildren who drop in to see her.

My grape hyacinths are blooming--including five that were transplanted by the squirrels. If there is enough rain this summer, there should be a large crop of holly berries come fall. The daffodils are beginning to fade, but the bird-planted honeysuckle bushes are budding. New grass is sprouting in
the front yard where the snow plow removed sod as well as snow.

Springtime.

Another house.

Stephanie, 27

The car, my crappy tree, the street, my neighbours whose house (except for colour) looks exactly like mine.
