you could decorate in any style, what would it be?
I'd decorate in a modern style with mostly solids instead of prints or patterns. There would be red accents, dark woods, and Buckeye and Chinese accessories.
Eclectic. I don't like rooms that look "decorated." I want a comfortable mix of new upholstered pieces and old wood, colors that coordinate but don't match, rooms that look like they have grown, not been purchased all at one time. I agree with William Morris, who said that you should have nothing in a room that you don't believe to be beautiful or know to be useful.
Romantic cottage garden, flowers and chintz. Oak furniture.
I'd repeat my present eclectic mix of artifacts with personal meaning.
Traditional -- wingback chairs, cherry end tables, etc
