What is the greatest physical pain you have ever felt?

The pain from a torn thigh muscle. I could barely walk, even with pain killers. And, even though I knew it would heal completely given time, it went on for several months.

When I was younger, my friend accidentally stabbed me on the side of my stomach. It wasn't very deep, but I was in agony. I wouldn't wish pain like that on anyone. It was awful, and I now have a great big scar to show for it. I'm hoping to get a tattoo to cover it.

When I was 16 I tore all the ligaments in my knee. They put a weird electric probe in my knee after the surgery to control the pain. I had a dial  that controled the electric current. When it was decided that I no longer needed  this strange mechanism, it was pulled out of my poor wounded knee. It was very very painful.

The greatest physical pain I have ever felt was when I got my tattoo. It's on the middle of my back on either side of my spine, and when the artist was working over my kidneys I thought I was going to pass out from the pain.

It's a toss up between the migraines I get on an occassional basis, having braces replaced on my molars, and the bouts of tendonitis I use to get that were so bad I couldn't unbend my right arm for days.

The greatest physican painb would probably be when I had my widom teeth yanked, and I was in such pain that I was praying to die.

Funny you should ask. I just passed two kidney stones in 10 days. Let me tell you.. it was the most painful experience in my life. I was crawling on the floor, speaking in tongues. I was blacking out from the pain. I gave birth to a ten pound child and I think passing the kidney stone was worse than giving birth.j

I fell down the stairs when i was little. My back really hurt, and i knocked the wind out of me so i couldn't breath either. NOt a good experience for an 8 year old.

Probably having my broken arm reset...but I have no memory of it.  I'm going to guess that having my wisdom teeth shattered and yanked would have hurt if I hadn't been on sweet sweet drugs.

While my husband was stationed in Germany, I stayed with my mother in Texas and one day while she was at work, I fell and fractured my leg in three places. At first, I must have been in shock for I didn't even feel it.  However, when I tried to crawl to the phone, I noticed that my leg didn't 'crawl' with me. That's when I realized it must be broken. I finally got to the phone and called an ambulance. The guys came and took me to the hospital and it wasn't until they tried to move me off the gurney, that I realized i was in pain...a pain more powerful than any I had ever known.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but it's the greatest pain I think I've felt. I have really had some pain in my life too...cracked kneecap, chipped elbow, migraines so bad I thought it was the end, etc. Anyway, one summer I broke one of my toes. I broke it pretty much in half because it was sticking straight up in the air when I looked down at it. However, that part wasn't the greatest pain. That came later in the ER when the doctor stuck the Novocain needle in the toe. I swear to God that needle went straight through my bone it hurt so bad. It actually hurt me so much that I wouldn't let him do the other side...I told him to just set the toe the way it was, I didn't

I don't know, it's kind of a toss-up. There was the time I fell on a nail, when I got my wisdom teeth pulled, the time I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep because my arthritis had me in agony, all the cramps and ear infections I ever had. . .

Migraine headaches. No other pain has ever caused me to contemplate the benefits of dying the way an ass-kicking migraine has.

Hmm... besides menstrual cramps? *grin* I'd have to say when I  broke my foot in the seventh grade, didn't know it was broken, walked around on it broken for three weeks, and then started screaming at a Mardi Gras parade because it was killing me. Come to find out, it was about to turn into a compound fracture (with a lovely bone protruding from the side of my foot). Yay.

[WARNING: IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH, STOP READING.] ...A few years ago I was hit with a rare problem called "ovarian torsion;" said body part spontaneously twisted around a couple times and tangled itself up and did itself some damage. It felt like constant hara-kiri. To make things worse, it took the E.R. doctors 9 hours to determine that's what  was wrong with me when I went to the hospital -- and I spent all of them WITHOUT pain medication. (It was necessary to leave me undrugged; they wanted to find the problem and fix it, and while I was still undiagnosed, the fear was if I had been drugged I wouldn't know if the pain suddenly got worse.)

The occasional stabbing pain in my lower back. I can't breathe or move whenit happens. I suspect it's kidney stones moving around. It doesn't last long, so I ignore it.

Gee, I dunno. It's all been little stuff, so I tend to forget. I stubbed a toe and took off the nail once.  There might be others, but since I can't honestly remember how  painful they were...
