Is
it better to be a hammer or a nail?I've tried to interview both hammers and nails and couldn't
get a damn word out of either of them. My guess would be the hammer.
Alias Irrelevante
NAIL - I'd rather be a link that supports
something than someone's tool even if it means taking the heavy blows once in a while.
(Metaphorically speaking of course)

A hammer of course! Who wants to get beat
on?

I think I would rather be a hammer.
Ok, this is how I see it. I hammer merely strikes the
head of the nail till satisfied. The nail gets to be hit on the head and his body plowed
very tightly I might add into a very hard substance such as wood or concrete. Tah-dah!

A nail. I'd much rather be one of a legion
holding things together. Athough I have to admit without a hammer I'd be pretty much
useless. I suppose there are occassions when being a hammer could be useful.

I don't know whether its better to be one
than the other, but I am a nail at work, and a little bit of both in my non-work life.
Each is good in its one way.

Does the situation require making a
statement of force or holding fast?

a hammer, you're the one doing the beating
not the one getting beaten!!!

The answer is pretty obvious.

Neither of you are in control. Both of you
get hit. But the hammer gets to see more than the inside of a hole in the wall. Hammer.

I'd rather be the person using the hammer

hammer - you're in control. you do the work.
you work hard. you get things done easily.

That's easy. A hammer. Wouldn't you rather
decide what happens instead of having someone decide for you?
Kate, 19

I would think the answer is obvious
- a hammer!
Susan, 31

A hammer.

why anyone would want to be a piece of
twisted iron is beyond me...

Who cares, either way you're a tool.

The nail. You can smack it into something
with a shoe for Pete's sake. Or anything heavy enough to do the job. The nail, however, is
what hold's it all together. The nail gets the actual results you were looking for.
Fisch, 45

I would rather be the nail... the
nail is the part that holds things together, makes the whole stable. ALl the hammer does
is go around smashing things down, exerting its power.
Blah. Yup, a nail for me.

Ooh! Now there's a question. Is it better to
walk all over people or be walked on? I don't know. That's why I decided not to become a
vet. All the vets I saw either ended up doing all the work and getting none of the money
or the other way around. This one vet owned a clinic and had a second vet working seven
days a week despite the fact that the second vet had a newborn at home. . .the first vet,
of course, only stopped in one day a week.Personally, I'd rather not be the hammer OR the
nail.

uh. . .duh. . .Probably a hammer, although
I'd enjoyed getting nailed, particularly if I was a woman. . .

i like to be the receptive 2x4, does
this make me gay?
Anthony, 25

It's impossible for me to say which is
better. The way I see it, "the hammer" makes the decisions; "The nail"
carries them out.

Definitely
a hammer. Nails get bent so easily.

Hammer.

Hammer.
