From
one to ten, ten being the greatest, how would you rate the importance the job you do in
your company?ten
Brooke, 16
Memphis, TN
USA
I'd give it a 10. I'm the one who
recruits the students who pay the tuition. If it wasn't
for the tuition-paying students we would go bankrupt and close down!!

How important is my job in my company? I'd
give it a 9. I do tech support (fix their computer problems). Without computers, these
people couldn't do anything - schedule a meeting, distribute information, send bills...
They rely on computer tech support constantly, and I'm happy about it - means good job
security.
Jesse, 24

USA
I don't have a job yet.
Shanna, 15

I would rate my job at 10
definately. I work for an insurance company and I handle all the business done here. I am
also the ONLY employee and if I left they would be so screwed. My boss, the owner,
wouldn't know what to do if it hit him in the face. Once I actually attempted to ask him a
question regarding an insurance product and he choked
and said let me get back w/ you. He never did. So yeah, I KNOW I would rate it a 10 for
importance.
Stephanie, 24
TX USA
right now I work in the Ethnology
collections department at a local natural history and culture museum. My job is pretty
important and in the scheme of things I have to say that I am about a 5 or a 6 on the
importance ladder.
Kate, 19
Bellingham, WA USA
two, they don't me, i'm just there if they
ever do
Jade, 16
AUSTRALIA
Heh, one!!! I push paper around in one of
the most useless offices on campus.
Maggie, 20
Sandwich, IL
USA
10 I'm a nurse so my patient's
depend on me.
Sarah J.
Jones, MO USA
Working in a division of customer service,
and considering that we wouldn't have a business to run without satisfied customers, I'd
rate my job around 7. Of course, production would say that without them, no
orders would be processed, and shipping would say that without them, nothing would get
sent out - oh and the president of the company probably figures his function is somewhat
important as well.
Fisch, 45
Preston, CT
USA
Pretty low, I suppose, since I'm only a
freshman in high school.
Karen2, 14
Boston, MA
USA
Currently between occupations. Attempted to
relocate, guess it was a low number.
Alias Irrelevante
If I were to disappear tomorrow, a
bunch of people would be very disappointed and things would be chaotic for a bit, but
others would take on what I do or find out how to do
without. So I would say my importance on a day-to-day level is about a 5 or 6. On an
emotional level, however, it is probably a bit higher, say an 8.
Felicia, 34
Lowell, MA
USA
I'm an old fashioned housewife, but I rank
my importance at "10".
Jill, 59
Saylorsburg, PA USA
Around 8 or 9.
Laura, 35
Lowell, MA
USA
They need me. . .but I'm replaceable too. .
.so I don't know.
Karen, 21
Marshelltown/Ames, IA USA
I'm a freelance and contract
software developer. When I freelance, I'm a ten to
myself. When I work through a contract agency, like all their developers, I am a 7 or 8 to
them - they don't make any money if they don't place us. As for the clients, I may be at
the 3 or 4 level if I am one member of a large team, I may be producing a vital
application for them and be all the way at 8 or 9, or anywhere in the middle.
Jane, 60
West Linn, OR USA
It's hard to call being a Data Entry
clear/filing guy important, but if I did not do my job, others would not be able to do
their jobs. I mean, my job is one link in a long chain. Some tell at work say I am
important, but, whatever.
Mick, 30
Chicago, IL
USA
It depends on the job: a) If it's the day
job, probably a 2. b) If it's the night job (I'm a freelance stage manager), that would be
a 10. c) If it's the other "night job" (dramaturg for a theater company),
that could be anywhere between 4 and 6 depending on the director and how much dramaturgy
they need/want/think to use.
Kim, 30
New York, NY
USA
I could be replaced. My job might be done by
certain staff, but each job is an integral part of the whole, and what I do is very
important. Therefore I would say 9
Jami, 27

Two.
Reba, 50

10!!
