Have you ever lived in a foreign country and if so, what did you like best about it?

yes. i lived in germany for 4 years. i LOVED it. it really opened my eyes to the rest of the world. living in the US, you tend to disassociate yourself from the rest of the world. plus, it was a much more relaxed lifestyle.the US is full of greed, hate, anger, crime, road rage, selfishness, intolerance, etc, etc.

I lived in London for a semester when I was in college. It's hard to say what I liked best about it. I really had a blast and fell in love with the city! I loved everything! Well, except for the food. English food sucks in my opinion. Steak and kidney pies are gross! But there are fabulous Indian restaurants there. I ate Indian food all the time, even on Easter Sunday! I really liked how close I was to so many other countries. I suppose traveling was my favorite thing! Oh, and the adorable accents!

I lived in Kenya for 6 months during a semester abroad. I went to every corner of the country and the best thing it did was give me a better perpective on living in the U.S. No matter how bad things are here at time, at least our professors can speak their minds in classrooms without fear of being arrested. Most (if any( Americans do not have to walk miles for water. Then again, it would be nice if every day at 4 we all took a break and had some chai with bread and jam.

I've never lived in a foreign country but a few years ago I stayed with some relatives in Cape Town, South Africa for a while. The things I liked most were the climate and the friendly atmosphere everywhere I went. And there really wasn't as much racism as the media claims.

I lived in England for a time. What I like about England is that most things are basically familiar, but there are just enough differences to make you conscious of your day-to-day activities.

My husband was in the Army and we were transferred to Germany, where we lived for awhile "on the economy" (that means we lived with the German people, spoke German, and made our purchases at German stores rather than American). This was a wonderful experience and I enjoyed every part of it but I guess if I had to name the thing I liked the best about this wonderful country, it would be that it is so clean - the German people wouldn't THINK of throwing a candy wrapper on the ground.

I spent three years living in England, but my experience of living in a foreign country was filtered by the necessity of dealing with two young children. I reveled in the inevitable way that history casually impinged on daily life.

No I have not, but hopefully when I get my degree my son and I can relocate to London... screw America.

I was in Caracas for a week. The people were rioting because they couldn't sell to the tourists without getting a new paper and paying a huge tax, but we didn't know that because they were fighting in spanish. They started revoulting against the police and guns were shot. They frightened us, and the police made all americans refuge into the American Embassy and locked us in there for many hours! Other than that I love Caracas. I own the seal of the city "Leon De Caracas" and it's my favorite statue.
