Which is the more important quality in a mate: Good looks, or a good brain?

good brain, for sure.

Good looks are nice, I must admit, but I need a man with a brain in his head. What can you do with a good-looking moron? Nothing...just stare and that gets old.

Neither. I think you have to have a healthy mix of both.

Good brain. I'd be out of luck if I was dating who I'm dating now for looks.

both

I would have to say a good brain is more important in a mate. The example that immediately comes to mind is the number of marriages that stem from internet relationships. These are successful relationships that are completely based on mental attraction. Show me a successful relationship

Good brain. Pretty is nice but brain is more important.

Well, so far it looks like the good brain is winning. A bad brain seems to have an adverse affect on the good looks. I mean, I'm not one to go for a hideous man, but if you take a normal everyday, nothing special guy, and put a good brain in his head, it turns him into a supermodel before your eyes. Wa-la. And that is from a personal experience.

i dont think either one is really very important. i think it is the personality that is the most important quality, and as long as you love the personality it doesnt matter if they are really good looking or really ugly, a rocket scientist or a dropout.

A good brain of course! Even if he's the hottest guy in the universe, if there's nothing upstairs, what's the point? I'd still like both though! Just like my amazing boyfriend :)

I believe a brain is more important. YOu can be with a person only for looks but what would you talk about? Looks aren't everything and your heart makes them beautiful anyway.

It's great fun to have a mutual physical attraction, but to me, looks pale in comparison with consistent, stimulating conversation. Good brain - every time.

Brain, brain brain. Looks ain't nothing if your mate is a stupid bloody idiot.

How about a man who is interested in finding both his purpose and place in the universe?

Good brain. Without a doubt.

If you fall in love with somebody's brain, you've GOT to love his or her looks too. But if you like his orher looks, you still might never learn to love the brain that goes with them. So obviously, the brain is more important. But I guess I'm being presumptuous, thinking "mate" necessarily involves love. This stuff seems rather obvious to me. . .

a good brain, because you can be very beautiful or hot but if you have nothing to say, then you don't interest me.

brain :) ... (although looks are good too :) )

There simply must be a balanced mixture of the two.

Of those two and just those two since the question said 'more' and not 'most': looks. If they're smart enough to look good how dumb can they be? Also I've met a lot of miserable brilliance.

Alias Irrelevante

duh...good brain.

Having neither, I'll go with the good brain. They fade slower.

Ryan, 28

Good brain. However, one must never discount how much physical appearance and spirit (neither of which are about intelligenc) factor into attraction.

I got this question from a computer personality test...since I do not have good looks, or a good brain, I feel qualified to answer this question. I would not want good looks...because I would constantly feel inferior to that person...and wonder why in the he..they would want to hang with somebody like me...who makes Uncle Fester look like Tom Cruise. Although you do not often hear guys say..."Wow! Look at the brain on her..."of the two, I think that is the better too have...as long as they are not condescending. Of course, I would hope they would not flaunt their superior intellect over me...nevertheless, that would be my choice...of course, that person would have to at least tolerate professional wrestling...if not love it.

A good brain is more important than good looks, but a good heart is more important than either of the others.

This is such an easy question for me: a good brain, of course.

There is a very fine line here that I do not wish to walk today.

I would think you'd need a balance, a bit of both.

Janet, 44

Definitely a good brain. It's nice to have someone who is good looking but if there is no stimulating conversation then what's the point!
