Does
God need the Devil?I do not think that either God or the Devil exist. I think
they are both human creations born of the realization of the fact that there is good and
evil in this world. I think that humans need both concept in order to understand and
interpret what they see around them. If they can feel that there is some ultimate force
behind what happens, then they can feel safer, less responsible and more content. They can
also jusitfy to their children a reason for taking a path of good even if it is not easy.
(It is much harder to explain to a child that you should be kind because it makes another
person feel better if you are kind to them, etc.)

People who believe in the Devil say that
"he" is a fallen angel. The Devil must be G-d's right-hand "man,"
testing G-d's limits and testing the limits of everything that is "good." In the
same way that good needs evil in order to have something to compare itself to, G-d needs
the Devil.

I don't believe in either, but
hypothetically, if God did exist, then I don't see how the devil could, and if the devil
existed then how could god? ... hmmm oh well.

Um...wow. This question is kind of
assuming a lot, particularly that I believe in your God
and your Devil - which I don't. But do I believe your God needs your Devil? No. From what
I understand of your God, he takes both good and evil into consideration when making
decisions. Do I believe your Heaven needs your Hell? Yes. I do think people who believe in
that need to have the two options. And if their religion helps them feel better in
difficult times, I envy them. I'd love to blame my problems on God (though I'd hate to wonder why he had forsaken me), but I just can't
believe in a policeman in the sky.

You can't define goodness without a
reference for its antonym.

I'm not sure I even agree with all the
possible underlying assumptions here. . .so I probably shouldn't answer that.

No, but the Devil needs God.

I have not fathomed the mind of God. I am
fairly certain that people need the Devil to personify evil so that they can recognize
evil embodied in themselves and in others.

No. But we humans do.

God and
the devil are products of mankind's imagination.

Wow, I don't even know how to answer that.
Being Catholic and all, I gotta watch what I say when it comes to religion.

Absolutely...We need evil to understand
good, and vice-versa...in the same way that life cannot exit without death...God needs the
devil...We have seen plenty of both recently...good being the way this country came
together after the attack...evil, the people who commited those evil acts.

yes, i think he does because he needs the
devil to complete the revelations for him during the apocalypse.

no.

I think the devil
exists because there is sin in the world and Satan thrives on chaos, sin and disorder.
Satan doesn't want us to find eternal peace through God cause then he will no longer
exist.
