What is one thing you have to do at work that definitely isn’t in your job description?

I teach people at the office how to use a lot of our software, everything from the Microsoft programs to our home-grown stuff. It isn't anything formal, more of a one-on-one thing.

About half of my job is not in my job description. Turns out I can do a whole lot more than they hired me for and they are taking advantage of that.

be a counsellor for alcoholics. Definitely not what I'm paid for! Calm down panicy ladies who've just been burgled. That wasn't in my job description, although possibly comes under the "dealing with customer queries" banner. Oh, and cleaning the fridge.

I distribute the mail for our section and I thoroughly enjoy it. It's not in my job description but SOMEONE has to do it.

Since my job description includes the phrase "and other duties as required", it's all in there.

I'm an old fashioned, full time housewife with a degree from a good liberal arts college. Nothing is outside my job description.

HA! It is a striking coincidence that you would ask that today! I'm not sure I HAVE a job description, but I am the secretary to the director. Lately my duties have involved managing a conference for a guy who is NOT the director. Today was particularly hellish. I am about to crack, because a) I'm with this guy for more waking hours of the day than I'm with my husband, b) he gets mad at me for not always knowing what's going on, c) it's hard to get my actual job done, and d) I feel like everybody feels I'm a failure and doesn't like me. I like the people I'm working for/with, and I want them to like me. This was a very depressing day, and I came home to a house devoid of all other humans.
