There were two outstanding Letters to the Editor in the newspaper this morning. The first explained that teenagers these days indulged in vandalism because they knew their parents could have had them aborted before they were born. The second was from a nature loving jogger who resented that as she crossed a covered bridge just before dawn her feeling of
oneness with the universe was destroyed by hundreds of bats coming home to roost. She wants the city to get rid of the bats.

I spent the morning working at a homeless shelter. A friend called to say she was in the hospital. The crazy thing was a call from my wife who was excited to see a car she traded in 2 years ago had somehow found its way back to the neighborhood and how she missed having the bumper
sticker that's on it.

My friends from work and I were sitting outside at the picnic bench in the back of our parking lot having lunch. A yellowjacket came buzzing around to investigate our goodies. Jeanette told him sternly, "No, this is mine. I'm not sharing. Go over there and play with Grace!" (Grace was sitting at a different picnic table.)

This might not sound crazy to anyone but me but some folks we met at a nearby park told my husband and I that the Pileated Woodpecker we were looking at used to be called the Ivory-billed Woodpecker before it went extinct.
