When I was about 8 or so one of my aunts went to England and I started writing to this kid from over their who was in the same cult. After the quick 'how are you' style conversations and brief discussions of living conditions the conversations got pretty thin. 8 year old boys don't have much to write about.

I had a pen pal from 3rd grade and up she moved away when i was young and i refused to let reality seperate us. Though few visits eventually led to the demise. She did pop in last month with her boyfriend and we all went out to lunch. Unfortunately i realized I didnt like the type of person she was and I doubt we will see each other again.

Yup. We started writing back in the days when pen and paper was the medium of choice. It must have been about 20 years ago now when we began writing. My penpal is from Argentina, but reads and writes English quite well. We finally got to meet when his brother won tickets to the USA and they stayed at our house back in '91. It was quite exciting to finally meet and we all had a wonderful time! Now we're both online!

Yes. In 7th grade I was connected with a girl in France through my French class, and a few years later I had a pen pal in Germany whom I actually met once when she came to the U.S. It saddens me that I've lost touch with both of them.
