What
is the minimum wage in your area? Do you think it is too high? too low? just right?I think it is $5.15,
and that is way too low. The poverty level is rising because employers don't pay their
staff enough.

The minimum wage in this rural area is $5.25
an hour. Unfortunately, we are becoming a bedroom community for NYC and housing
costs are far too high for one wage earner to support three people on a 40 hour week.

I think it's $6.95, but when I was being
mistreated at Blockbuster they paid us $7. I'm poor so I think it's too low, but...I mean,
it's a whole pile better then what people were paid a hundred years ago. I still think my
tallents are worth more. Well, maybe not at Blockbuster, but whatever.

I don't know, $5 or $6 or something. Is it
$5.65, still, or has it gone up? Anyway, I think whether it's good or bad depends on your
life situation--how much you need to get by and to satisfy you and all.

I think it's about $7 an hour. This
isn't anything to make a living off of but it's certainly more than enough for a kid's
first job.
Alias Irrelevante
The legal minimum is around $5.15 or $5.25.
In practice in this area the typical person working at Burger King is making $7-$8/hr.

$5.25...and I guess it's okay. I'm trying to
find a job that I can pay for an apartment, groceries, etc. with though, and minimum wage
just isn't going to do that.

the minumum wage for my area is $5.50, i
think it's alright for younger people but for people who are trying to make a living, it's
too low.
Tannis
I think min. wage is up to $5.50
now. I peronally think its about right but could be moved up some. I remember when I was
15 (my first job) and I got $4.25 an hour min. wage.
Now that was 10 years ago and it has only gone up $1.25. I think it should go along with
the changing economy, which they say it does, but if a meal at a fast food restaurant is
at average $4.5o, people have to work an hour to eat a meal, and that doesn't include the
taxes that come out of it. Makes ya think. I'm glad I don't get min. wage anymore. I like
to eat.

Minimum wage is $5.75 I believe. I think
this is too low. Minimum wage should be at least $6.25.

Ummm... I don't really know. Sorry.
Derya
I don't know for sure, but I think it's
either $5.75, or $6. I feel that it's far too low, but then that's probably why I have a
job where I make more than that.

It is the same as the Federal Minimum wage,
$5.15 an hour. I believe this too low, unless you are a teenager working a part time job
outside of going to school. These days, I don't see how anyone can have live on $5.15 an
hour. You see help wanted posters all around though, and most are much more than the
minimum wage, so it probably doesn't affect what a person makes anyway.
Kevin, 33

$8.00 an hour. I think it's okay for people
with little experience..but the ones that have experience yes it's too low.
Christina

I'm not sure what it is, but I know it's a
lot less than what I make, and I don't see how people live off of it.

Oregon's minimum wage is $6.50 per
hour. It is probably about right for the unskilled jobs that pay minimum wage, but it
isn't enough for someone trying to support a family.
Jane, 62

I have no
idea. Does it vary from state to state?
Janet, 44

I am not
sure what the minimum wage is in my area. It's been a long time since I made minimum wage.
