If you celebrate Easter, how do you celebrate?
I go to church
for Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. Usually my husband and I spend
Sunday afternoon together. If the day is nice we take the dogs for or
walk, or something like that.

We start with a
hunt for chocolate Easter eggs in the living room. Next, we go to church.
We go to my husband's side for lunch and to my side for dinner. It's potluck
at both places.

Usually I travel
home to my mom's. Mass and dinner at a cousin's house are usually the
order of the day.

Personally, I reflect
a little on religious traditions that I learned as a child but I don't
pass my thoughts onto others. We don't celebrate Easter in our house.

I make up an Easter
basket for my son, but instead of candy, I put in things like gladiolus
bulbs, dahlia bulbs, sunflower seeds, tomato plants, pumpkin seeds, small
birdhouses and birdfeeders...all kind of "spring-y" outdoorsy
things. I also hide plastic Easter eggs around the house for him to find.
In each egg is a clue to where he can find a hidden gift. This year's
hidden
gifts include: Monopoly, Harry Potter's second movie, a bug catching kit,
the book "Number the Stars" and a book to identify trees. We
color eggs, of course. We go to church. We usually go to my Mother's house
to eat Easter dinner, but this year I'm having it at my house.

I'm not a Christian
and do not celebrate Easter. I do rejoice in spring and I always make
a jar of picked eggs for sentimental reasons.

My favorite part
of Easter is the sunrise service held on the hill behind my church. There
have been some rainy Sundays on the hill, but many times we have witnessed
the sunrise, a beautiful
metaphor for the Easter story. The past three years, we have traveled
to West Virginia to have dinner with my husband's family. It is a meal
like none other. Those folks can cook.

Easter is pretty
much a family day for me, with Easter baskets and small gifts for my grandchildren,
possibly some kind of family outing, and certainly a festive dinner. This
year, I'm the liturgist for the early service at my church.

Usually
go to Good Friday service for the remembrance of Christ dying for our
sins and then church on Easter Sunday to celebrate the resurrection of
Christ. My family has dinner with my siblings. We usually cook a ham,
pork, or lamb. We have an Eater egg hunt and devour chocolate.
