Before now I had never heard of him, but a quick google search reveals that he is "Richard Stallman is the founder of the Gnu Project, launched in 1984 to develop the free operating system GNU". i dont know that much about him but what i know is that he is a guy who is promoting free software. i think he started up a software company with an operating system called gnu. its related to linux. its totally free and gives the user control over the program and their computer.
very different from windows and mac which actually control the computer. it gives the user the power to pick and choose what they want out of their software programs.
thats about all i know.
