What is your favorite quote?

"Love is friendship set on fire." - Jeremy Taylor

Today?

..from too much love of living,
From hope and fear set free.
I thank with deep thanksgiving
Whatever gods there be
That no life lives forever
That dead men rise up never
That even the weariest river
Winds sometime safe to sea.

I have lots of them, mostly song lyrics, but the one that sticks in my mind most often is this line from "New Nathan Detroits" by Braid ( http://www.prairienet.org/braid )...

There's something inside like a conscience that says/ you're painting floors while your pals are renaming the stars/ get up, get up/ and go do what you  started/ if you want to be a martyr, try harder...

It relates to me and my life way too much to NOT stick in my head sometimes...

The fruit of silence is prayer
the fruit of prayer is faith
the fruit of faith is love
the fruit of love is service
the fruit of service is peace.

My favorite quote is the one I use in my signature line. -"I compete with my own laziness. I have a great ability to sit in a single place and do nothing for long stretches of time." -Russell Crowe on being a workaholic

It's the same for me. I have no trouble sitting on me arse. =)

Well, many of the quotes or ideas I like are quite strange outside of context, however, I do like the Irish proverb: "Pray not for an easy life, rather for an enduring heart."

I always loved "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen" by Harry S. Truman. There are others, but this one stands out for some reason.

I have 2 favourite quotes:  the first is , let's stop saying "don't quote me", because if no-one quotes you, you probably haven't said a thing worth saying, which is from a song called Dogma by KMFDM.

the second is Statengers Law, which says it works better if you plug it in.

There are so many but I'll just stick to my favs. "A pessimist is a man who has had to listen to too many optomists." "You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you". "How many of our daydreams would darken into nightmares, were there danger of them coming true?"
