Do you feel that you have job security?

Not a bit.

Karen, 22
Ames, IA USA

since i dont have a job right now that would be a definite no

Cara, 18
Valparaiso

I don't feel that I really have to worry about job security. This job is not one I think I'll keep in a few months anyway. As for what I aspire to be and I'm currently at a tech school to be, an R.N, I feel that there is job security. They need them, and they'll bend over backwards to get them.

Em, 16
Harrisburg, PA USA

Absolutely. I'm Primary Caregiver until either my husband or I die.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

Yes. My company had lay-offs last year and does not plan any more lay-offs.

Laura, 37
Lowell, MA USA

Not really.

Firelady, 24
Frisco, TX USA

Nope. I am a freelance graphic artist. So my job ends whenever the work is done. I am fortunate to work quite steadily for the same company. But right now, they are evaluating whether or not to keep the graphic staff in-house or get rid of everyone and go outside.

Janet, 44

more on this topic once i actually find a job.

A-Dog, 19

Hell no, that's why they invented resumes.

Alias Irrelevante

Hell, I did before 9-11-01, but then all kinds of people in all kinds of businesses started getting laid off...so...I dont know anymore.

Tam

yes, although that doesn't mean I want to stay there!

Alice, 21
Winchester UK

Well, the business will be there forever. As to my personal job, ya never know.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

I don't work but my husband is a truck driver for 34 years now and I no longer feel any security. These companies are going bankrupt same as other companies.

Laney

Well, the business will be there forever. As to my personal job, ya never know.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

For the most part I do. But working for an NPO is this funding climate is no guarantee

Felicia, 36
Lowell, MA USA

Yup. There will always be a need for teachers!

Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA

Yes, because I have been at Bank One for 2 years (my anniversary date was Sept. 18th) and their stock has been fluctuating from $35-$45 per share since the economy went crazy on Sept. 11, 2001.
Their financial resources are good and they have bought a lot of other credit card companies and other banks (I work for their credit card division, First USA).

Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH USA

For the most part I do, but am always suspecious.

Ryan, 29
Morton, IL USA

Absolutley not.

Talia, 25
Stamford, CT USA

Yes. I'm in the biotech industry. I don't think there will ever be a shortage of people wanting to do research to cure diseases.

Triana, 29
Austin, TX USA

Seeing as I work for a university, and I'm pretty good at my job, I don't think I'll ever be fired, since a lot of people trust me. When I get out of college, I'll probably have pretty good job security (esp after getting a phd), since who would fire someone with a PHD in physics?

Cancer, 20
NYC, NY USA

I'm a contract programmer. The only security I have is in the quality of my skills.
