What were you like in High School?

Less confident than I am now. And more laid-back. Less experienced. I had less anxiety about money, but I didn't know the love of my life (till the last month of high school--and then I didn't know yet that he was the love of my life). Until I got sick my senior year, I was a lot more energetic than I am now.

Karen, 22
Ames, IA USA

In high school I was pretty much the same person I am now. Perhaps I have a little more confidence but that comes with experience.

Laura, 37
Lowell, MA USA

I was shy, romantic, and had much to learn, even though I though I knew everything I needed to know.

Judy, 62
Easton, KS USA

I was pretty much the same. Friendly with most people and honest. I didn't run with any particular crowd, rather, I had many different "friends". Only a few close friends and a lot of people that I talked to. I had good grades and was the captain of the basketball team. I ran cross-country and was in the drama department. I was on the honor roll, a member of SADD, on the yearbook and newspaper staff, in debate, in forensics and ran track. I had a "freshman fanclub", which was quite embarrassing, a bunch of freshman girls had a crush. Really, I was just like me... I was who I wanted to be.

Doug2, 29
Overland Park, KS USA

Pretty much middle-of-the-road. I was neither totally outgoing nor a wallflower. I wasn't radical yet I had some clear opinions and was not afraid to voice them. I had a handful of close friends and many acquaintances. I always looked over my shoulder...something you just learned to do in that
particular era. High school wasn't the greatest time of my life as we endured

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

Start of High School I was kind of geeky and not well known/liked. By the end of High School, I believe I was pretty popular, met a lot of great friends that I still have as friends today, 17 years later.

Kevin, 35
Sugar Hill, GA USA

Shy. High achiever. Pretty limited view on the world. Pretty judgemental.

Felicia, 36
Lowell, MA USA

Probably about the same as I am now, maybe a little quieter and less decisvie.

Cara, 18
Valparaiso

More like what am I now? Um, average student, not very popular but not nerdy either. Have my own little cliche. I guess I'm a goth. Sleep during driver's ed. Out most weekends with friends. Hate to be home more than absolutly necessary.Typical stuff.

Em, 16
Harrisburg, PA USA

Highly intelligent, independent minded and very unpopular.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

Sometimes I was considered a freak, other times a people thought of me as a geek.

Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH USA

I played some sports, had good friends, went to some parties, had a few boyfriends, not popular, but not unpopular. I didn't really care for high school, but I made it through. I enjoyed college much more :0)

Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA

What am I like? Heheh... I tend to be outgoing and energetic out of class, but I think I am a good student. I try to be very easygoing and laid back with my classmates. Definitely not a class clown.

Jeremy, 14
Highlands Ranch, CO USA

I was unsure of myself. I certainly wasn't part of the popular group. I hung out in the art rooms, doing weaving, jewelry or ceramics. It wasn't until I was a junior that I realized, I should take care of myself and be who I was instead of worrying what to do to be popular and well-liked. I couldn't
care less what anyone else thought of me and just went about being myself.

Janet, 44
E. Brunswick, NJ USA

What was I like in high school? Good grief, I have been trying to bury my high school memories...dude, I hated high school. I hung out with the freaks in high school...I was/am afraid of teachers...I just skated by all Cs all the time... except for the infamous 11th grade of high school, in
which I had 2 semesters of 5Fs and 2Ds...and the teachers tried to kick me out of high school....which caused me, the following year to make the honor roll twice...to show those teachers that, to quote Edge, they 'think you know me,

Menelaus, 30
Sparta GREECE

First three years i was quiet, withdrawn, bit of a wallflower. Senior year i was jealous, messed up and severely depressed and angry.

Talia, 25
Stamford, CT USA

20 years ago, when I was in high school, we had a bunch of different "cliques" running around our school. We had the "Prisses" (the popular, cheerleader-type girls), the "Freaks" (kids who wore jean jackets, did drugs and partied) the "Jocks" (which included both girls and guys who
were on sports teams), the "Brains" (smart kids)...and some other groups. I was on the track team, but was not considered a jock...I wasn't really in with the "popular girls"...although a few of them were my friends...I wasn't all that smart...well, okay, actually I was, but I didnt discover that fact until I went to college, so I definitely was NOT considered a brain in High
School...I went to an occasional party, but pretty much avoided the "freak" crowd back then...I don't know...I was just kind of quiet and nice to everyone...I had a close circle of 5 really, really good girlfriends, who
are all still my friends to this day...I didnt date all that much (thanks to my father!), but I did have a steady boyfriend all thru my senior year, who I dated until I was 25, but unfortunately never married...and I guess that's about it.

Tam

I was a quiet and shy person

Brad, 21
Sydney AUSTRALIA

Shy, studious, and surprisingly involved in extracurricular activities.

Jane, 62
West Linn, OR USA

I was such a rock star in high school. For the next two years I was a party legend among the remaining kids who remembered me. I was in sports for a while, I was in every club I had time for, I was in most of the plays and I cameoed in our Mr. Mac High pageant twice. I was there for all the extra stuff but my senior year i never went to class except Twilighters my jazz all-star jazz choir. yeah, high school was rad. I really miss high school.
