That depends on your definition of "found." I once found $60 I didn't know I had in my pants pocket. But the largest amount I found that wasn't already mine was probably a $20 bill. I don't really remember.

A $100 bill. Two days before Christmas this past year. It was sitting on the ground beneath my car in a lot. There wasn't a soul around other than myself and my daughter. I sat in the car for a minute then looked up and said "thanks Ma" and drove off with it.

In a store parking lot under a basket was a man's briefcase. He had been taking Easter pictures all day. It was full of cash, checks and charge slips. I took it to the courtesy booth and gave it to them. To this day, about twenty years later, I wonder if they returned it. I wish I had looked for his info inside and called him. found a wallet laying in a gutter in Lawrence, KS outside of a liquor
store. Inside the wallet were
several credit cards and about $200 in cash. Also in the wallet was an
ID from the local hospital. I
called the hospital, got ahold of the guy and returned the wallet. I got
a "thank you" but no reward. Oh well, no biggie. Wasn't my money
to begin with.
