If you were applying for a job in Security, how would you do if they conducted a background check? (A check into your past, former neighbors, your parents, etc.)

As long as they didn't get ahold of any vindictive ex-girlfriends, I'd do fine.

No problem, check away.

Laney, 60
TX USA

I'd have no worries.

I should pass with flying colors. Strange how common these sorts of things (including drug tests) have become. Not sure if I'd want to work for such a place (unless of course it dealt with children).

Except for that incident in the 1960s when I was in elementary school and my best friend was the son of an atheistic math professor at Concord College, I imagine I would be pretty clean. And
would I tell ya'll? I think not. Confessing to an occasional toke 15 years ago is as deep as I'll get.

Cindy, 41
VA USA

I'd do fine. I've never done anything illegal and I try to be moral.

Cathie, 53

Well, I'm a firm believer in stealing stuff from work, so I'm not sure they'd like that. I don't know if they'd find out, tho. I don't have much of a police record. It's the open container violation that usually gets me. As far as people that could be contacted, they all love me, so maybe I will go
get a job in security.

A-Dog, 20

I'd do fine, but I probably wouldn't get the job because my brothers and sisters are wacky.

Laura, 38
Lowell, MA USA

I would fare just fine.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

I don't think they would encounter any problems.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

Fine, I assume.

Karen, 23
Ames, IA USA

I don't think I'd do too bad. I'm friends with some Arab Americans, though...but none of them are in any way connected to terrorism or anything. Hmmm...in my past, lets see...they'd discover quite a few speeding tickets, a few days of skipped school in high school...some detention hours
spent for forgotten reasons...a library book never turned in...a rented video tape ruined while in my possession (but paid for)...some rave parties attended...a lot of screwball friends....a few episodes of sneaking into a nightclub while underage...some demonstrations attended...and probably a few more stupid stunts I'd performed while young and ignorant, but nothing to cause
them to consider me a risk on a national securtiy job!

What sort of "security". If I wanted the job, I'd have to go through the background check. If I didn't want to be checked out, I'd look for another job.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

They'd discover I was a pretty dull person, I imagine.

Aly, 17

I actually got my clearance for Top Secret work when I was twenty-four. Since I haven't done anything to get me in trouble since then, I assume I'd pass it again.

Judy, 62
Easton, KS USA

Looks good on paper. I think I would past with flying colors.

Janet, 45
E. Brunswick, NJ USA

I know they wouldn't find anything through a state or federal background check...i'm a teacher, there's nothing there. I also know my friends and family would say I would be great at the job. I've
done a few things here and there over my life, but nothing that they would hold me down for:)

Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA

What can I say? I'm a Mormon and Mormons are usually pretty clean cut. My husband, who is a returned missionary, has a Top Secret Security Clearance and I don't think I'd have any trouble getting one, either.

Reba, 57
Gaithersburg, MD USA

Probably pretty good unless they discovered I was busted by mall security back in the spring o'95.
