What is the worst thing that has ever happened to you on a job interview?

I had arrived for my interview on time via public transportation. However, I ended up walking in the wrong direction. By the time I called from a gas station, I was already over 45 minutes late. By the time I got to the job, I was an hour and a half late. However, the interviewer didn't seem to mind, but I didn't get the job. Two years later though, he approached me to let me know a position would be coming up and wondered if I was interested in applying. I was. This time I made sure to get there on time (luckily I had a car by this time). Amazingly, I still work a this organization.

The manager who interviewed me started talking about the work hours and I realized he was talking about a full-time job. At the time I had a baby at home and I was only looking for part-time programming, preferably at home. I had written on my resume "part-time only" in red letters, so I said "I'm sorry, I'm only looking for part-time work. I thought I wrote that on my resume." He said that he had seen it, but he was hoping to persuade me to work full-time. I ended the interview and went home mad. I had gotten my hopes up for nothing and I was out of pocket for the babysitter, too.

They suckered me into working for them.

I had a guy ask me what I'd heard about chiropractors, good or bad. That was awkward. But I think the worst thing was basically the whole interview I had for a soldering job at Appaloosa Trading Company in the Durango, Colorado area. We had gone all the way to Colorado and driven out to the trading company in Hermosa. I had to wait a long time for the guy who was going to be interviewing me, and my husband had to wait around while this guy talked to me for about an hour. I thought I'd given him all the right answers and he was going to hire me. When he didn't call, I called to talk to him, and the people I got told me he had pneumonia or something. So I
called back and couldn't get him. Finally, I got a female manager-type who said she'd find out what was going on. Eventually she came back and said they weren't going to fill the position after all--despite the fact that it was still listed in the paper! I was very angry and figured out that the only reason they wouldn't hire me was that I was still in Iowa and they didn't trust me to move to Colorado to take the job. It was very discouraging.

I went on a job interview when computers were pretty new and many people had never worked on one. The woman who interviewed me was from China and spoke with a heavy accent. We were discussing what computer skills I had and Her question to me was, "Have you ever have experience with floppy dick?" At first I was taken aback but I soon realized she meant, "have you ever had experience with a floppy disk?"

I haven't had any bad experiences with a job interview.

Sometimes I think the interviewer was/is flirting with me and that always unnerves me. No other interview horror stories (just a lot of job horror stories unfortunately).

The interview was progressing nicely when the person who was interviewing me got a call that his father was dying. He left immediately. I later learned that I had been the best qualified candidate but had been rejected because of the bad association.

The worst job interview I remember going on was on the Isle of Wight off of Virginia. It took forever to get there because I live in the mountains. I wore a wool suit that was too tight and there was not one molecule of my body that was comfortable. Needless to say I did not get the job. In hindsight, that was a turn of good fortune.

I fiddled with my watch too much and they didn't call me back :-/

I was at an interview for a police administrative assistant job... it was so important to me. When I left the interview, I realized the shoulder padding was sticking out of my suit jacket and had slipped down my chest. It looked like I had lost the padding to a bra!! How classy is that? I was
mortified.

I spit something out about the work environment I prefer to work in and it snowballed from there. The guy was quizzing me and saying well what did you mean by that? Let's just say I didn't get that job.

When I was 23-24 and tried modeling they kept sending me on acting auditions. I couldn't act and it kept showing.
