Ideally, what would you do if you had a unexpected day off (like a snowstorm,
power outtage,. etc.)?
probably just
hang at the house or go to a friends house
Hoochie
sleep in! and do
as many chores as I can (i.e. if the power is off and there's no water,
obviously i can't wash dishes or do laundry, but i can sweep floors, fold
clothes, make beds, etc. to keep busy.

Ideally, I would
turn on the gas logs, get a cup of hot chocolate and a fantastic novel
and curl up on the love seat with blankets and pillows and read the day
away. Of course, the dogs are curled up around me and the cats are perched
on the arms of the sofa. And my husband would make lunch and do the dishes.
And supper and the supper dishes.
Cindy,

sleep : ) then
catch up on things that needed to be done... mostly homework

Probably what I
do most days, depending on whether I had electricity or not. I'd write,
read, maybe bake some cookies.
Judy,

Easton, KS USA
Read, watch TV,
write, perhaps go to a movie.
Felicia,

Something constructive,
like schoolwork or housework. I always end up pissing them away doing
something indulgent.

I live far enough
out in the country that minor disasters involve coping rather than enjoying.
Jill,

Sleep late, order
a pizza or two, and watch TV and videos all day. But you asked for ideally,
didn't you? Well, that's a little different. Ideally, I would CLEAN UP
OUR CLOSET!
Reba,

Go hiking, natch...nothing
in the world, according to my warped standards, can compare to hiking
in the snow...like I did this weekend...it is totally awesome exercise...beautiful
snow...very few people around...and those who were around had hep dogs...and
there was a element of danger...it totally reeks of awesomeness...totally
gnarly.

That would have
to depend on the cause of the day off. If it were a snowstorm, I'd probably
light a fire, make a pot of tea, and curl up with a good book. A power
outage might drive me out of the house to somewhere that had power, or
perhaps encourage me to go for a long walk. Much
would depend upon the circumstances and my mood.
Jane,

Catch up on my
school work.
Laura,

Run very far away
and never go back.

Relax,
take a nap, call a few old friends.

Ideally,
I'd go to the beach and relax... problem is, I live in Kansas. No beach.
So, taking that into
consideration, I'd relax at home and read a book.
Doug2,

I
guess I would do the same thing I always do -- sleep, clean the house,
feed my pets, etc.
Melodi,
19
Gahanna, OH USA
I
would probably enjoy a full breakfast, do a bit of writing, catch up with
some friends and would definitely take an early afternoon nap!
Fisch,

Sleep..

Just
had one as a matter of fact and let me tell you...of everything I had
planned, not one thing was accomplished. I guess that's really what those
days are for though...I never get anything done on snow days except catch
up on sleep and TV:)

Like
this Friday? I didn't go into work because the commute is not fun in the
snow. So, I took my work home with me on Thursday. In the morning I got
up at 6am saw there was no school went back to bed till 8:00 am. Got up
changed my voice mail at work, called my client and left her my
home number. I worked until 1:00 pm on my work. Then emailed the job to
her and told her
I'd do corrections on Monday. I made lunch for my kids and family, did
some wash, and then went out into the snow to shovel the walks and feed
the birds. The kids finished the driveway and I went to BlockBuster and
got some movies. Pulp Fiction, About a Boy and The Bourne Identity. Put
some chicken on for dinner, took a nap. After dinner we watched movies.

Right
now I'm unemployed, and I do exciting things like feed the birds and check
my email and bake and go get my fluids & filters changed and go to
appointments. Plus I check the classifieds for jobs. But if there were
a snow day and my husband had the day off, I hope we'd have fun trying
out our toboggan and then come in and make a fire to warm up. We could
watch a movie and snuggle up on the couch under a blanket, and it would
be SO nice. I don't think we've ever been snowed in together, but I'd
love it if we were.
Karen,

I'd
catch up on my sleep, clean the house, and maybe catch up on the reading
for my class.
Cathie,

Sleep!

I
just had one on Friday. I stayed in my pj till 2:00 and then I took a
shower because I had to go out.

Either
absolutely nothing, do homework or hang out with a great guy.

I've
had quite a few days off recently due to my transplant surgery. Of course,
I really haven't been up to doing much of anything except resting and
recovering....but if I were working and had an unexpected day off, I'd
probably go out and do something with my son, like build a snowman if
it were winter or go for a hike with my son and the dogs if the weather
was
